Why 988 is Important?

It is a non-judgmental, confidential way to receive emotional support during panic and crisis. Panic and crisis referring to a deep sense of danger, trouble, doom, or at risk of endangering yourself. They do not discriminate those who struggle with substance use.

But I’m Worried It Will Make It Worse!

Then keep details or names obscured. You’re allowed to be safe and find support. This is me giving you permission to get help and to protect your well-being as much as possible. Your life matters.

The asinow link does not look like an official link, care to explain how it's not a scam? I would not click on it for security reasons.

Aloso, please note that this website is for an international audience. Do these links accept requests from anywhere outside the US?

Hi there! I understand your worries with the link, it’s legitimacy, and if it’s available for those outside the U.S. I would like to link an article by SAMHSA (which is an branch of the U.S. Health Department) and NPR, which goes over any concerns and purpose of 988.

From what I’ve gathered, 988 is intended for those who live in the U.S. (I believe through their website chat service they may respond to people even if they’re outside the States, as the online chat service seems to only require internet access. It may be limited in their ability to help if you seek resources.) I would like to better equip others by links I’ve found most useful when redirecting people.

I recommend reading the FAQ that SAMHSA provides here, they’ve condensed it quite nicely: https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/988/faqs

NPR offers grounded insight into the use of 988, including concerns people have about their safety:

Here’s a blog I have found that nicely condensed, it lists hotlines and secondary lines through various countries:

Given that 'vibrant.io' is an online payment provider, as marked in this screenshot:

grafik_1735769678.png

and that you did not provide any information that would relieve my worry for people clicking on it, I am going to flag your post now, and let moderators decide what it is and whether it's legit. It really doesn't look like that to me.

Ah, found it, it's not an 'i' but an 'l'.  Not flagging, seems legit, despite the address being worrying.

@cloudySummer

Apologies for the confusion! I should’ve said I pulled the URL link directly from the 988lifeline website.
