whyyyyyyyyyy?!?!
So they decided to name a fear, a phobia of long words with another long word as if the patients werenβt traumatized enough! If you are not afraid yet, try to say this word three times fast or even one time slow.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

@PineTreeTreeExactly! Imagine going to therapy for your fear of long words, and the doctor says, "You have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia." Like, excuse me? I came here to feel better, not to spell the name of my nightmare! ππ«

@PineTreeTree This sounds suspiciously like another condition invented by the degreed priesthood who writes & edits the DSM...some kind of malady that no one even heard of 50 years ago, & that the drug companies are working on some kind of prescription medication for. Once they've figured one out & it's passed experimental tests, then they can sell it to doctors & run ads for this amazing new wonder-pill on TV.

@PineTreeTree πππππthat's just evilππππππ
@PineTreeTree How do they come up with some of these names? This one sounds like a fear of gigantic hippos.
One would think batrachophobia might be a fear of bats, but no, frogs. Chiroptophobia is bats.
@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas Who knows, maybe they invent these just so they can win at 3-dimensional scrabble? π
