Riddles!
This topic is about short riddles, because not everyone likes to do the larger logical puzzles. If you do like those, then click here.
If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going.
I will start with this riddle:
What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?
He that in music takes delight,
And he that sleeps secure at night,
And he who sails too near the land,
And he that's caught by law's strong hand,
He who his time in tavern spends,
And he that courts of law attends---
Are all acquainted well with me:
My name you sure now must see.
I'm slain to save me -- with much care and pain,
Scattered, dispersed, and gathered up again,
Withered, tho young -- most sweet, tho unperfumed,
And carefully laid up to be consumed.
@DarkWolf (i'm close but unperfumed is bugging me...)
@DarkWolf dried fruits are perfumed so that's not it...
@DarkWolf walnuts? (but they have some perfume too...) for now I go with walnuts, they are withered though young...
@Butterflee
It's not walnuts. I think this riddle will be quite hard to answer.. and I think you shouldn't focus too much on the word 'perfumed'.
I'll eventually start giving some hints if nobody gets it.
@Butterflee dumb, walnuts are not sweet...😔😔😔
@DarkWolf nothing like a cigarette to clear your mind and give you ideas. It was right under my nose the whole time, as usual...i lived in the countryside as a little child...it must be hay
@Butterflee
Hay is the right answer I'm actually very impressed you got that.
@DarkWolf i participated when peasants "slayed" the hay manually with scythes and helped with raking and spreading and gathering again and then played in the hay piles and stacks...see how hard is it nowadays to keep a relaxed mind?...😔😔😔
I never was but always am to be;
None ever saw me, you may never see;
And yet I am the confidence of all
Who live and breathe on this terrestial hall.
@DarkWolf the future...(I think I will refrain to answer for a while because I have the feeling that I am monopolising the thread amd I want other people to participate too...)
@Butterflee
The answer is practically correct! The right answer is 'tomorrow'.
If you feel like that, you can always wait a little bit to see if others can answer. And then answer after nobody answered for a while
What is that which goes up the hill, and down the hill, and in spite of all yet standeth still?
My first implies to be able,
My second is a Christian name which may be read both ways,
My whole is North America.
What am I?
@DarkWolf this is so fun🤗
@DarkWolf What's the answer? :P
Canada
@lazyKatz👏👏
@Butterflee
@Butterflee
That was just up my street, easier than alot of the riddles
@lazyKatz Don't be modest bow you did great🤗🤗🤗
My first brings joy to all around, my second may bring sorrow.
My whole but once a year is found and may be yours tomorrow.
Is it birthday
@lazyKatz
Yes, it definitely is
My first is nimble, my second innumerable, and my whole dangerous. What am I?
@DarkWolf...a wasp?
@Lifer
That's not the right answer.. but this one is really difficult. If nobody gets it i'll start giving out hints again
@Lifer "my first" is always the first part of the word, "my second" is the second part of the word, that helps
@Butterflee
That's so good to know. 😀 I can't wait to see the next one .
@DarkWolf quicksand (I read the book "The Desert Fox") as a child...quick-nimble, sand is innumerable...
@Butterflee
Yes You're honestly so good at solving these.
@DarkWolf it's your fault, you woke me up from lethargy....nay Wolf, I am not but you are too kind...
