ED- I need help

Ikztonix November 28th, 2020

I had severe anorexia a few months ago and got over it by myself, but now it's reoccurring and little by little I'm eating less and working out too much.

I can't eat without checking the calories and if they're over [edited by Shanna for calorie count] I won't eat it. I'm eating about [edited by Shanna for calorie count] each day, but it lowers by every other day.

I used to eat only [edited by Shanna for calorie count] calories a day and I don't want to do that again but that's all my body is telling me to do

@Ikztonix hey just learn how delicious food is and eating something delicious a day won't change ur body at all,,you can eat stuff then just do cardio or other workouts

It's not that simple. You see, just working out after eating a bunch won't help anything. You'll still gain weight. If I were to not eat anything and workout, I'd get skinnier. If I were to eat healthy and workout, I'd look healthier. And I know my best option is to workout and eat healthy, but that's so hard when all I can think of is to not eat.

Hi there! In order to keep the forums as trigger-free as possible, I've edited out the calorie counts in your post just because eating disorders can be competitive and lead to comparisons.

First of all, I'm so sorry you're struggling. I admire you for recognizing that things are slipping back to how they were before and that it may not be the healthiest thing for you. It's also so impressive that you were able to make progress previously on your own.

Do you have any supports (friends, family, doctors, etc) who could help keep you accountable to nourishing yourself more regularly and setting some limits on your exercising? Would you be open to seeing a therapist or other eating disorder professional to help take some of the burden off of you in having to do it all alone? I've found for myself that recovery is so, so much harder without a team and a community to help encourage me and keep me on track.

Is there a small goal you can set each day? Are there methods that helped you make progress before that may be helpful to reincorporate again?

I'm glad you reached out for help here--we are all rooting for you! If you would be comfortable, I'd encourage you to connect with a listener 1:1 here for some more individualized support.

Wishing all the best heart
