Piercings as preventative measure

Keola October 13th, 2020

Anyone ever heard of ear piercings as migraine prevention?

**NO? What would you like to know? Here’s a little information for you to think about.

Daith piercing has become one of the popular alternative treatments for migraine. Daith is the innermost cartilage fold in the ear. This process is to mimic acupuncture on the ear. Though there is no concrete medical evidence of daith piercing to work for migraines, many migraine sufferers say that it helps with their migraines. Another area of the ear where a piercing may be placed to aid in migraine pain is the tragus. Tragus is the small cartilage partially covering the opening of your ear. Tragus is often pierced for other reasons, however, it has been used for migraines.

Recommendations of getting a daith or tragus piercing is all based on peer to peer. Medical recommendations are limited due to the limited amount of information on daith piercings and its effectiveness. Personal careful research is strongly recommended prior to having one placed.

**YES, you have, that’s awesome :) Do you have one? How is your migraine? What are your thoughts about it?

@Keola hey there!! Thanks for this amazing post!! It is filled with such interesting info!

I actually have never heard of this before so it was really cool to read about! I think it is almost mind-blowing how they can use this as a way to prevent migraines. It makes sense there is no evidence, as i presume it is hard to prove, but the testimonies of migraine sufferers is very substantial evidence in my mind!

I will definitely look into this more! Thaks so much for sharing this is amazing! <3 have a lovely day
