Morning Migraines
Ever wake up with a Migraine headache?
I am sure for many of us, waking up to a migraine headache is one of the most annoying and difficult way of starting the day. I, personally, usually wake up at least 2-3 times a month, often more.
There are many possible causes for morning migraine headaches such as:
-Mental health conditions i.e. anxiety and depression
-Sleep patterns
-Dehydration
-Caffeine withdrawals
-Medications
-Hormones
-Underlying health conditions i.e.
-Sleep Apnea (briefly stop breathing during sleep) can be related to snoring
-Hypertension (high blood pressure)
-Glaucoma (increased pressure within the eyeball)
How often do you wake up with a migraine headache? And what are your ways to prevent them, if any?
@Keola
Hey there! I understand what you are going through. I'm sorry you have been dealing with these! It can be super hard when we have to start our day off like that. Those are all definitely causes of migraines! I personally have found that getting migraines especially in the morning, are related to my diet. There are certain foods that I have found can "trigger" a migraine. I have learned that foods rich in Carbohydrates could help cause migraines. Some ways I've learned to prevent them is to
1. Drink a lot of water before bed
2. Get a good sleep
3. Eat vegetables and fruits at dinner
4. Don't snack at night
Hopefullly these are able to help you! I understand how hard migraines can be to deal with, and I want to reiterate that you are not alone in this!! <3

Thank you <3
I have been dealing with chronic migraines since I was a teenager. It has gotten so much better since I have gotten in the medical/nursing field. When I wake up with migraines it is due to lack of sleep. I am a night shift worker and sleep doesn't come that easily for me. I was also diagnosed with Acute Glaucoma, which I have had a procedure to reduce the pressure in my eyes, so since then my morning migraines have decreased.
I do keep water at bedside and drink plenty. I have cut down on late night snacking and even cut back on caffeine. I am also currently on a weightloss journey so my eating habits have gotten better. If only I could get good sleep, I would be golden :p
