What's your disability?

Evois June 7th, 2016

I have a learning disability.

What is the most difficult part of your disability?
For me its being slow when my brain sometimes either moves toooo fast or not fast enough and I have to take longer on stuff.

I have debilitating gender dysphoria, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I am also autistic and beginning to develop a chronic illness.

dreamMelody27 January 6th, 2019

I suffer from juvenile chronic polyarthritis, a form of rheumatism. My knees, hands, feet and elbows are affected, unfortunately it is also suspected that all tissues in my body could be affected, even outside the joints. Sometimes that really scares me, because I do not know what else is coming ... I react very strongly to changing weather, sometimes I can not walk properly for months and I have a lot of pain. I started with a new medication a short time ago, but it didnt work at all! The side effects were so extreme that I developed medicamete conditional depression and anxiety attacks. I discontinued the medication, but the synthomas got worse, even neurogalyic outages occurred, so I'm currently in hospital again, hoping it will get better...

@dreamMelody27 Wow. That really sounds rough to deal with. I don't really know a whole lot about the condition itself but it sounds awful. Are there other treatments available to try other than the one with the bad side effects?

@ReclusiveReptile thank you! There is and I will try them in the future, its just a bit complicated to get them... I hope it will get better under new medications (:

I have ADHD and I'm starting to really feel the effects of my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a connective tissue disorder)... both of my ulnar nerve ("funny bones") are subluxed and get pinched when I bend my elbows, my joints constantly crack and a couple times my hip has just--- gone out and then right back in again??? It was uncomfortable to say the least

It's not super duper bad right now but... I have a very manual job, and it's only going to get worse. Hopefully my new doctor is willing to do research and stuff because it's a very uncommon disorder

@6smeargles dang that sonds like an awful lot of, well, awful to go through. I know how much it can hurt to hit my elbow on the table and that really hurts. I really hope they find a way to treat it. I know when a nerve was being pinched in my foot it hurt all the time to walk and run until the orthopedic specialist made custom shoe inserts to distribute the pressure. I really do hope there's something they'll be able to figure out for an elbow. You sound like a really strong-willed person to be currently working through the pain at your job like that.

@ReclusiveReptile Thanks so much for your support! They'll probably have to move the nerve surgically (gulp!), which will hurt, but... I'll take that over the pinching for sure. The worst is the hand pain, tbh. It's like carpal tunnel except from the elbow down.

Super proud of you for enduring what you did! It sounds hecka tough.

@6smeargles No problem!! And thanks <3. I suppose we've both been through and are going through a lot. But oyy, i presume the survey is while awake? Haha I'm a wimp i prefer to get the sleepy time gas any time i have anything done, which is probably for the best since it takes a lot of pain meds for me to actually feel the pain relief. I remember when I had my tooth pulled they said the normal dose should be enough to not feel anything at all, but for me after 2 doses it was still painful. I'm not the average person though with those types of chemicals though so the pain killer should be plenty so you don't have to feel the surgery. My dad's like the exact opposite, he doesn't even need the full dose a lot of times and he says doesn't feel a thing.

I have both POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and hEDS (Hypermoble Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and I've also been a dancer for 16 years. Those two things definitely have held me back in my dancing and it's not fun having flare ups during class but I'm not letting it hold me back!
