Quote of the Month: "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there’s an invincible summer." - Albert Camus

December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month. If you're feeling the weight of the shorter days and colder weather, know that you're not alone 🫂. SAD is a type of depression that’s related to changes in seasons. It’s estimated that around 5% of the global population experiences SAD each year.

Prompt of the Month : Share your experiences with SAD. What strategies have you found helpful in managing your symptoms?

Fun Facts About SAD:

  • SAD can affect people of all ages.

  • Symptoms of SAD can vary from person to person.

  • Light therapy is a common treatment for SAD.

  • Regular exercise and a healthy diet can help manage SAD symptoms.

Remember, you’re not alone 🫂. Let’s work together to overcome the challenges that come with December.

I have suffered Depression and other things over the years.

And definetely notice that I generally feel worse over the darker days of winter, with It's long nights and limited outdoor activities because of that. I even find that when the summer solstice hits on June 21st I get abit of a low feeling, as it I'm aware the the days will begin to become shorter. Even though I'm aware that I won't notice the changes really until closer to Autumn. But yeah I definetely struggle with long winter nights. The idea that you can get all cozy and enjoy them, I thought could feel better this year. But having lost the closest person in my life, at the beginning of Autumn, this winter has been exceptionally and excruitiatingly difficult.

To anyone else suffering with SAD or anything else at this time of year or just at this time, I wish you LIGHT in the darkness and PEACE in whatever struggles you may be going through 🕯☀️🕊✌️

Well, I haven't experienced this! But yes, I agree with most of the suggestions of this post! And also that quote it's so beautiful and warming to read it!! :)))

I wish, anybody who's been facing this issue, acknowledges it and finds ways to recover!! At the end, we all do it!! So cheers to this beginning ❣️🌄
