Hi everyone

Myself85 April 10th, 2020

Hi my name is Janina. I am diagnosed with an eating disorder for years, but I think I have also a depression. I also struggle with self harming behavior. It was better for years but now it's getting worse. Because of some health issues like cancer and marriage problems I am overwhelmed and struggle with dark thoughts and don't really know how to get out at the moment. About two days ago I found this site and i hope it can help me to find a good way to handle it all. Thanks for having me.

Hey @Myself85 ,

Welcome to 7 Cups, and more importantly the Depression Community Grinning We are so glad that you were able to join us. I'm sorry to hear about your struggles and the fact its getting worse recently with some of the health issues you are experiencing.

It can be extremely difficult to get away from our dark thoughts but sometimes speaking about them can really help. Is there anything that used to make you feel better when you felt this way before, or is this the first time you've been overwhelmed with thoughts like this?

You mentioned being diagnosed with an eating disorder, and I know how difficult this can be - I am sorry to hear that you've been struggling with this. We have a specialized community for eating disorders as well, if you would like to check it out as well as the depression community. Sometimes it can help to have specific support depending on the subject, and I know it was helpful for me in my recovery to have friends in both communities! Grinning You can find the Eating Disorder Community here. We also have a self-harm recovery subcommunity which you can find here.

Sending hugs! Purple heart

Emma

Thanks for your kind words and advice. I joined the eating disorder group right now. I am struggling more with my depressing thoughts I think. I completely lost my appetite so it was a bit triggering. I felt like this in the past but found a way to handle it. Ups and downs. I do sports especially running, it's a good coping skill for me. But at the moment I feel very overwhelmed and feel like I am getting lost again. @emsworld

@Myself85

Depression accompanies many times other conditions too, to drag us further down...I struggled cancers myself (chondrosarcoma and liposarcoma and skin cancer...)...and it can be devastating for morale...maybe chemo has interfered with your loss of appetite too, I used to take some pills for appetite when I underwent chemo. Depression just waits around the corner to hit us when we are down and I suffer from major depression for almost 9 years now...I feel for you and am sad that yet another one is on the claws of depression. I hope you find solace and uplift your spirit here on 7cups...🤗😊hugs
