How do I know if medication is right for me?
I've been feeling low for a while now. After overcome some numbness caused by trauma, I've realized that all the holistic methods I have tried don't seem to help much.
I have been opposed to the idea of medication for a long time because I don't want to rely on it, have it taken away or be worse off mentally because of it.
But I feel like it might need to be an option since talk therapy doesn't seem to work on it's own anymore. Any advice?

@Spncrmrcd Your reasons for opposing medication seem like good reasons to me. Even so, many people find that medication does help them for simple depression, once they find the right medication and dose. Finding the right medication and dose is not always easy, though.
But if the effects of trauma are a factor, then I would say that I don't think have ever heard of a medication specifically for trauma. I have only heard of people overcoming the effects of trauma through talking therapy.
When you say talk therapy doesn't seem to work on its own anymore, it makes me wonder whether you have been having the right kind of therapy to address the underlying cause of your depression. Has your therapist established what the cause was?
I realize that I might not be understanding your situation very well here. If you'd ever like to chat to me about it, feel free to click on my profile picture and message me.

@Spncrmrcd ooops! Hi, This is a hard question to answer. I know a lot of other people who are against taking medications. For me personally I have had very severe episodes of depression that talk therapy could not resolve and the medication was the thing that pulled me out of the deep, dark place that I was in. I know other people who have experianced bad side effects from medications so they stopped taking them. I hope that you will find what works best for you.
