How do you find the motivation to go to school?
It's late at night and tomorow I have school. I'm really lazy and don't feel like going to school because it drains my energy and makes me feel horrible. I would much rather stay at home and do other things that require little energy. How do I find the motivation and energy to go to school? I know I have to.
There are many things that can drain your energy from sleep patterns, to diet, to physical health, to mental health. I can't pretend to know how you are feeling or what brings you to where you are.
All I can say is to be patient with yourself. Treat yourself with loving kindness. If you are able, look into the "mirror" to try and see what exactly is draining your energy. If you aren't able to put a finger on it, look for help. It could be a friend, a teacher, a professional. You would be the best judge.
I believe that each of us is in a state of suffering, to some degree. This suffering is, of course, incomprehensible to anyone else and there are no words that properly convey the pain. This is, in fact, what separates each and everyone of us from others and renders us alone. Yet, at the same time it is this 'communal suffering' (and the recognition of each other's suffering) is what we share in common and brings our lonely souls together in a true communion.
Seeking assistance to get you on the path is not a weakness, but a strength. Once on the path, don't worry about the speed, only the direction. When you fall (we all do) it just means it's time to re-orient yourself.
People find energy, or strength in many ways. Some find it in music, others reading or writing. You will be the best judge for that.
I feel quite fortunate to have come across your thread. I hope I haven't read too much into this! ;) In any case, be well. Be kind to yourself, and others (it confuses the heck out of them!)
@teddygrahams you can also look into homeschooling as well
One thing that I have heard is to remind yourself what goal school is serving for you that you do care about and want to put effort into. So for example if you care a lot about being able to be independent, then you might be able to get some motivation by reminding yourself how school is an important step on that path.
My school doesn't allow her students to skip school for no legimate reason. Even when we take a sick leave we have to hand in a parent's letter and a doctor's certificate the next day. So no matter how much I want to skip school, I can't :P
However I always tell myself that if I go to school, my brain would be occupied with school and wouldn't have time to churn out negativity and depressing thoughts. So if I go to school I kind of get less depressed.
