The One Thing I Do When I'm Depressed is...

PosiPotato February 13th, 2018

What is the one thing you do to help yourself feel better when you're experiencing depression? It can be anything at all, even simple things such as a longer warmer shower and listening to music or sounds of nature before bed.

@PosiPotato

I get productive.

When depressed I tend to not do anything because of lack of motivation. Well when motivation doesn't come you do things without it!

Yesterday for example, I was feeling like crap. So I cleaned my entire room and filled two bags with clothes to donate!

Then I was still slightly sad so I went running!

As long as you work on your well being you can kick the ass of depression :)

@Booklover95 YES! I love this. Thank you for sharing! Cleaning has always been one of the ways I help myself feel better. A messy home is an example of a messy mind! :)

@PosiPotato

COuldn't agree more! You almost feel lost and suffocated! Because the environment really has an impact on us.

Good on you :)

@Booklover95 I sometimes do cleaning when I am stress too. It's like giving me more energy to do house chores, especially rubbing on my bathroom. Hahha.

I try to medidate and be by myself for a while until I calm down. Not sure how that helps in a long run.

@KatLis123

It does help you're doing well.

Allows you to really take a deap breath, accepting your feelings and handling them. Is a very healthy option :)

Also if you like meditation have you tried yoga? Is fantastic to fight against depression

@Booklover95

I tried in the past a little bit. Yoga is quite allright. Hmm thanks!

@KatLis123 I believe that practicing a relaxed and empty state of mind teaches us that we are capable of tapping in and out of that state at any given moment, but this all takes practice ... the more you practice and the more it becomes possible :-)

Keep my mind busy.

I usually watch a movie, clean my room, visit my family and repeat positive statements!

Texting my friends or listening to music typically helps, and if I still feel lousy I just take a nap. It probably isn't the healthiest thing, but I do wake up feeling better.

@uselesscookies i recommend watching Buzzfeed - The Try Guys if you haven't already. They have around 9 seasons and they are bound to put a smile on your face!

@DayDreamerz it's so good to have outlets! Sometimes it helps to write these things down so that we can refer to our list when we're feeling down. I'm glad you had a good moment!

@PosiPotato I probably do the worst thing. I either get high. Or cut. It doesnt help and I dont recommend it. If were talking good, I talk to my friends. But usually end up fighting with them.
