Catharsis - What helps you? - I tried writing a poem
Hi Guys, So i had a moment of stillness last night and came up with this poem. I've never really written any before so i wanted to know if this is any good and if it could be a way of channeling myself. Its a bit of a sad one though. It's just how i feel people feel alone and ostracized when dealing with mental illness.
Scarlet Threads
Scarlet threads draped intricately along her soft skin
the outward expression of her mind's implosion
the bridge toward the light eaten away by the corrosion
she tries to ignore the voices, she felt the storm begin.
she tried to kill the cancer
thought she'd find the answer
percieved she'd be relieved
"oh, look, my joy lies just around that corner"
sharp bend, the world came crashing on her.
she absorbed the pain and unspoken words of shame
no hand reached out, no shoulders offered, "she has only herself to blame"
no empathy, nor sympathy yet and abundance of scrutiny
its a cruel world, an onlooker to the calamity
offering nothing but a laugh, a like, a share,
they praise the mindless and slight the mindful,
she always knew she was different, a prickly pear.
but cover it up, dress it up, make it up; the guise the direful
a raging storm repressed in a serene disposition
it turned her spirit numb, detatching from existence
she questions her purpose; it's getting too heavey, the weight of her affliction
the voices shouting louder with emphatic persistance
gleaming silver, scarlet thread,
here she lies draped in white and bloodstained red.

Yeah .. so thats it. Is it any good? do you think writing stuff helps with coping? What do you find helps you most?
@missmistyeyed Yes, that is good poetry. I don't think writing really helps with the coping. The only thing that consistantly helps me would be hugs and cuddles. I should feel better tonight. Playing music usually helps, and I think I will be doing that. And I will see my GF tonight, that will cheer me.
