Welcome back, group! I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

Last week we discussed: Think about a metaphor that represents your experience with depression in 2023. Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts and questions for discussion. They were thought-provoking questions and thoughts. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you


This week's prompt: How are you feeling today? Take a moment to reflect on your emotions and permit yourself to experience them fully.

@ASilentObserver not great at all it was hard to even get out the bed. I got up took my kids to school and now I'm at work, I don't want to be here. I had to take 2 days off for my mental health. But I'm here. Hoping it gets better.

@reservedTangerine9348 I am sorry to hear you're feeling down today. It sounds like taking those days off was a helpful first step in prioritizing your mental health. You showed strength in recognizing you needed a break and still coming into work today. I hope sharing helps lessen the burden, even if just a little. You aren't alone in this.

I'm struggling today. I woke up from bad dreams to bad news and then lost my cool and spoke in a way I normally wouldn't to someone I care dearly about. I apologized but I fear really awful. I've been trying to do anything to feel some sense of control over my life circumstances, since I know I can't control the external circumstances which dictate whether I live or die very much. That's up to the people with power, sadly. I just want to feel like I have some kind of quality of life, and that things will get better instead of anticipating things will get worse, due to the greed of the people with power driving people like me into becoming unhoused and starving, while blaming powerless groups of people for their own immoral decisions.

If I can get out of my chair, and get a garbage bag, and put a few things in it, I hope I'll feel better having accomplished something.

@ASilentObserver these past 2 weeks was weird. my boyfriend felt I have betrayed him (which is not true and I'm gonna be real, if i do, I have no shame to it).. it's an interesting experience to have the person you trust the most make an assumption that's untrue and I have to manage my emotions. I understand he's anxious and he felt that narrative was very compelling because of my last trip oversea and I met my ex. But this narrative is breaking our beautiful relationship. And because of this narrative, I have been very emotionally drained and I just want to end this relationship. I don't know what to do now, if it's worth still trying to serve in this relationship when both of us have great mistrust to each other now.

@kiwi66 Those past two weeks sound like they brought up a lot of difficult emotions for you. It's understandable that feeling a lack of trust in the relationship would leave you feeling drained. What has it been like for you navigating this time of uncertainty?

Last year I experienced two profound traumas that I never though I'd experience. I've somewhat come to terms with one of them that's happened earlier in the year in 2023, but the second trauma is taking a tole on my mental health and it's exceedingly difficult or me to not feel distressed and be completely overwhelmed by it. 

Today is just like any other day after I experienced that trauma and I'm just sorta trying to take it day by day. I don't particularly feel joyful or happy like I used to. Most of my days lately, I've been feeling a sense of deep loss, burden, sadness, strife, and just feeling really terrible overall as if my life has no meaning or purpose. Hopefully, things will change soon.

@janewayalpha1 it's very relatable because that cycle is what i'm trying to loop out as well. thank you for sharing. it reminds that many of us are in a similar path and will loop out of it. best wishes and hope things shift soon for u <3

@janewayalpha1 It sounds like the past year has brought a lot of difficult changes and emotions. I can understand why you would be feeling overwhelmed at times. You are right to take things day by day - be gentle with yourself as you continue moving forward. These feelings won't last forever.

I recently found out baking and cooking helps me to relax and relieve stress. (who knew I would enjoy cooking..🤷🏻‍♀️😆) I also like to go out for a walk and enjoy nature! 🌳☀️ Sometimes I feel lazy to go out but it definitely feels great after doing so.

I am glad to hear you are feeling loved today. Feeling cared for and connected to others is so important. Just knowing that you have people in your life who care can be comforting. What makes you feel especially loved or supported in this moment?

I am feeling good but a bit under the weather. Where I live is super cold. It snowed the other day. If I could change one thing I would be located in a warm climate. I think I would feel so much happier! :)
