Weekly Prompt #24: What matters most to you in your days that could help you feel less stuck in a loop?

ASilentObserver December 8th, 2023

Welcome back, group! I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

Last week we discussed: What are the common negative self-talk phrases that you often find yourself saying?  Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts and questions for discussion. They were thought-provoking questions and thoughts. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you

This week's prompt: What matters most to you in your days that could help you feel less stuck in a loop?

Depression can make one feel exhausted and unmotivated. Repeating each day with little variation can make it feel challenging. One may feel tired and drained, and it is very natural to feel this way. But, if we can break this loop, what will it take? Please know all thoughts and experiences are valid so no matter how small or big it seems, do share with us and we will discuss our thoughts on it together.

I think it's good that I know it's a loop.  I've known it for decades, and have tried to get out of my loop all that time.  One fundamental mistake I made early on was to think I had to do it by myself.  I need help to get out of my loop.  I can't do it on my own.  I'm still working on it.

@WharfRat It sounds like you've been trying to break the cycle for a long time, but found it challenging without support. Seeking help is a significant step towards change. What kind of support do you think you might need now?

@ASilentObserver

I could really use companionship - someone to talk to face-to-face.

@ASilentObserver Whenever I'm feeling depression I've found that I have to just lay in that depression for however long it takes me, and sometimes it can be really hard having to face what I don't want to face because it's draining, it makes me emotional, it causes me to feel not like myself. idk if this is even the right answer cause I forgot the questions lol but hopefully it is

@tealLion9329 It sounds like you're experiencing difficult feelings of being stuck in a loop. Feeling depressed can make facing things that may be painful or overwhelming seem daunting. Taking time to lay with those feelings might be necessary, and that's okay. Reflecting on what truly matters most during these times can provide some clarity. Is there anything specific that comes to mind?
