ASilentObserver September 4th, 2023

Hello everyone, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

Last week we discussed: Are there any small goals you can set for yourself? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.

This week's prompt: How do you maintain focus on tasks when depression makes it difficult to stay engaged?

I wanted to start a discussion on how depression affects our productivity levels and if there are any strategies or tips that help to stay on track. I look forward to hearing and discussing with you all!

Focus... Even when depression subsides it isn't my forte. Sometimes I can't even physically stand doing something for too long. I gotta switch between the tasks. Do breaks. I guess that's my way to manage. I found that changing the type of tasks, like, doing some mental work, then sth more physical, works best for me; I switch between them before I totally exhaust my energy or patience.

@Buzzingbeezon It sounds like managing your energy levels and alternating between tasks is important for you. I'm glad to hear you've discovered a strategy that works well for you. Taking breaks and switching activities is a wise way to care for yourself. How does it make you feel when you're able to find a good balance?

Forgive yourself when you have moments where you aren't functioning well. You can slowly build yourself back up. Think in terms of starting with small things to care for yourself. @Demonq

ASilentObserver OP September 12th, 2023

@Demonq It sounds like you've been through a difficult time recently that affected your ability to meet your goals. Maintaining self-care is so important when facing challenges. What were you able to do to take care of yourself during that period?

Thank you for your support. I know that exists people worst with more problems, but I see the world, the missing love, war. The humans are in the most bad people to each other. I cant stay happy, I don't like me too so, what's the point?

@Surmya Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. It seems this world can feel heavy at times. You're not alone in struggling sometimes, and there is strength even in feeling. We are all here with you.

There are no people that have worse problems. Comparing yourself to others won't really help because it makes you feel weaker. You are actually quite strong in being upset in how the world is right now. There is lots of rough stuff out there. But the key is to start to think much smaller. You can't change everything on your own, but you can show kindness where you are right now and you can watch for other people being kind near you. So where have you seen a bit of kindness lately?@Surmya
