TMS Treatment
The doctors are wanting to try a relatively new depression treatment on me. It is called Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). I did some research and it is a noninvasive therapy that uses magnetic fields to stimulate the brain to treat depression and other conditions. That sounds great and like a miracle if all I have to do is stick a magnet to my forehead and my brain is fixed. I know it’s not that simple but that’s the gist. My worry is that if it is powerful enough to “fix” me, wouldn’t it by the same standards be powerful enough to really mess me up if done wrong or come worse case scenario? I know this is me overthinking this, but has anybody else hear of, received, or known somebody who has received this treatment? I just want to hear some stories so I know what to expect and maybe some success stories would ease my mind. I’ve not decided if I’m going to go thru with the treatment yet, because it all makes me so nervous. Just wanted to see if anybody else has info on the topic.

Hi there,
I’ve just read your post about TMS.
I can recall reading about it, as it’s a non invasive procedure used when other depression treatments have not been effective, but unfortunately it’s not something I’m able to offer any further insight into.
I can understand your apprehension so hopefully others with more knowledge will be able to shine more light on this. Have you searched the forums community for any information? That might be another option.
Best wishes for whatever you decide.
No, I didn’t search other forums but probably should have. I ended up going thru with treatment. So far, so good I guess. I appreciate your response!
