Happiness

Hypergraphia April 24th

When will be the time for my happiness?

I know, happiness must be hard-earned. You can't be happy by just merely doing nothing for it. Happiness is a continuous seeking goal. But why can't be that simple? Why do you have to always do an extra mile to be happy. Why is it that happiness has been always an exertion of effort and tiring pursuing. Why can't we be happy. Just happy.

Hello, nice meeting you.

Wish happiness was more simpler too and came without the waiting time too. Maybe doing things that you enjoy would help you feel more at ease and a little less sadder. What are things you enjoy doing?

Lovely meeting you. Would love to know more about you, if you want to share more, I am sure you are not someone who does nothing. Sometimes we have to take it a day at a time and its okay.

Take care of yourself! <3

@River

Hello. Nice meeting you too!

Well, I enjoy talking to people, though, I prefer using chat and texts because I am an introvert. I love discussing things with people, I enjoy deep conversations.

Thank you for your kind words.

Take care also.

@Hypergraphia I'm also someone who does nothing, it's not a bad thing. Sometimes the happiest people are those who cruise through life. Remember happiness can not be earned/found or bought, happiness lives within you. You have to choose happiness. I also know it's not as easy as that sometimes. I hope you find your smile soon ❤❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤

there's something you've forgotten,

And that's to smile, and laugh and dance and sing 💃💃💃💃

@Hypergraphia Here is a theory science has. Happiness is temporary for a reason. If one thing made us always happy we would do that one thing until we fell over. First bite of cake, yummy. We’re happy. Second bite of cake little less. 45th bite of cake, yuck. Brand new shiny car?!?! Happy, happy, happy!!! Until a few months down the road, it’s ok, a couple of years go by and it’s meh.

Assuming science is right, what can we do? Well, we certainly aren’t going to stop enjoying cake and new cars, but we put less energy into thinking they will make us happy. Maybe we shoot for just a little less unhappy by learning skills that lead to happiness. Gratitude is a great skill to practice. Connecting to others (within our limits), learning and developing other skills like hobbies might help as well. And finally my default when everything else fails is remembering that unhappiness also has a shelf life (although when it expires another unhappy feeling can sprout up). Pay attention to when you are happy (even if it’s for a split second). Sometimes a joke or a good movie reminds us briefly that we can still be happy when surrounded by so much depression. If you string together enough happy seconds in a day they can turn into hours. You may not believe it but happiness can come from checking in on your emotions a few times a day. It’s often referred to as living for the moment. It’s an easier slice of time to navigate and there are often small bits of happiness there. However you get to happiness know that we all have to do the work, but it’s maybe a better alternative than not doing it.

@PineTreeTree

I am loving how you explain happiness in terms of science. Also I like how you imply realization at the end of your narratives. Thank you so much for this wonderful and meaningful content.

Hope to talk you more!
