Cozy Adventure Advent Calender
Hey everyone. Just sharing my DIY advent calendar journey here. It's going to be wild, FYI.
Candle was the first day, and a keychain day two. I'll share pictures and brands if people are interested.
Today's CAAC item was:
l🧦e✨s🧦o✨c🧦k
And thank god. I was on my last few clean pairs and needed some serious sockspiration.
I'm feeling a bit envious and sad though... I'll be probably, most likely struggling alone this season again and for me that is hard to do. A foray into my self care helped me come to terms with those emotions a bit; I'm bpd so anything I can do to improve that is 🆗 my way.
After calling multiple places to see if they had socks, I was about to give up because of holiday closures when I remembered a boutique and cafe. I could only find the cafe number but they ran next door to the boutique.
Success! They had 🧦, and said they were nice ones. I brought my notebook containing my caac plans, because when I told them about it they suggested I bring it as there were many nice goodies there.
Suited and booted, I biked over because I don't want to necessarily become a plumpkin and diabetic this holiday season, and found the socks...$37 on the third of December on the seventh day of the week. ✨ Then I bought coffee and a holiday white chocolate and crushed peppermint candy cane rice crispy square because needs must and did some writing like a true hipster in my onesie.
On coffee nos I toured the boutique for caac updates. Thanks to someone on 7cups here, I had solid ideas rattling around my brain hole.
With some revised caac notes, a few things set aside possibly for tomorrow and a spicy 66% dark milk chocolate bar in my bag (Which seems contradictory; how is it milk and dark simultaneously? What new devilry is this?) I went on my way. ✨
Me in my new socks. The slippers are actually from the same boutique. And the pants are a RVCA hooded onesie that I literally cannot stop wearing, mkay.
Sounds neat. What is an advent calendar for, exactly?
(Honest question, as we all have calendar functions on our phones now)
@slowdecline48
In my research they were used to help keep the magic of the season alive for children and usually came with bible verses and chocolates.
Since then they've adapted to still be the same in essence but just more nondenominational and with endless customizational options.
@slowdecline48 added some examples of advent calendars.
I just keep mine in brown paper bags because my working class roots will not be subdued.
@communicativePond1728 So I see, thanks. As I am a heathen, I knew nothing about Advent calendars until I saw this informative thread.
Things are getting out of pocket now.
My attempts to stay connected to the magic of the season seem to have already gone awry.
So today's (well, it's past midnight, so my vehicle is a pumpkin and I actually mean yesterday's.) item was earrings.
Buuuuuut I also yoinked a craft beer from another day because my "dinner felt dry". That's two advent items in one day which is pretty much illegal.
If I'm being honest I also went to two cafes for tea and treats, which could have been two other items, because while I have a list of everything for my calendar and the order, I'm also on a budget and in danger of a Grinch era.
And if I'm being really honest I also bought hand lotion which to be fair is pretty necessary and an essential considering I moved from lush forest climes to the edge of a damn desert and my skin is in a low key chronic state of panic but also it was pretty expensive.
So I have some stinking thinking to manage more effectively. And definitely some revisions to my calendar to make. And more self care to share. Because there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to this...it just has to bring joy, and be encouraging and loving. But with trauma...welp, that makes it tricky.
Going classic with some chocolate for today's advent item.
It's from a nice boutique - the same place as the socks from day three. Day three? 🧐
Really needed it...I'm sure understanding more how important self care can be.
@communicativePond1728
Me too, It is very important😊❤️
As it's *technically* the next day teehee...
So today's advent item is a Merlot table beer by Wasted Grape brewed with wine skins at a carbon neutral brewery, and a fossilized coral pendant that ended up connecting me with someone who wants to speak with me about writing for their wellness organization.
In my beer jewelry era.
The scandalous aforementioned hand lotion.
My calendar's classic 'one item a day' plan has for sure gone off the rails but I'm not that mad about it.
My budget on the other hand...😬
But making mistakes and bouncing back in a way that honors and respects life and death is what growth and exploring is all about.

I like this idea of adding one object per day, and its such unique items you're adding!! I shall start my "Creative Item Advent Calendar" too! Very inspirational!!
@communicativePond1728 😍😍😍 wow the advent calendar you made is so cool ❤ I'm jealous at all, well not much, ok so pretty jealous. I'm definetly copying your idea for next year. Oh and I had a choo choo train. This morning in my chocolate advent calendar😁
@Tinywhisper11 I'm jealous of your fabulous posts and imagination! You're so full of ideas, energy and creativity 😉😁
@Tinywhisper11 I'm jealous of your choo choo chocolate too! It's so simple and sweet and reminds me of times where I was cared for not isolated on my own responsible with every micromoment of my life...:/ 🧬
@communicativePond1728 hey! It's not your fault your isolated. It's just because of circumstances beyond your control. And don't worry your not gonna get rid of me that easy😁 or anyone here at cups ❤❤ gives you a giant festive tiny hug ❤❤squeezes you tightly ❤
@Tinywhisper11 I'm so sorry tiny; I just realized I was ranting away about being isolated and cared for without even remembering what you've been through and...yeah what I was saying might have been so triggering. And you responded with hearts and kindness anyway like a *** heroine. I apologize for that cringiness.
@communicativePond1728 awww don't be sorry ❤❤ we are all here to support each other ❤❤that's what friends do🤗
15 days and counting 🎅🎅🎅🎅
gives you a giant festive tiny hug ❤
Error update!
I said the chocolate I bought was 66% chocolate but yeah, no it's 60%
And did you know dark chocolate is sweeter than milk chocolate and the only reason it isn't is due to quality? *ScAnDaLoUs*
