Crochet!

Hi all! I really want to get into crochet, but I'm so nervous about being bad at it and I don't have the patience to sit and do it. Does anyone have any tips or getting over the nerves? I don't think anyone can help with the patience part haha

Hiii! I have never crochet however with nerves, that's totally normal,  i get the same with art, I find the more I do it, the less nerves affect me. Do you think practice might help you?

That sounds like a good idea. It does usually help me. Just getting over that hump is so hard!

I get that! But once you're over the hump, you'll be so glad you stuck through for the ride! Make sure you post your lovely creations here!

@witchybirdie hii ❤ I do lots of different art and crafts, although ive never tried to crochet. The most important part is to remember it's just for fun, as long as your having fun then you've already won ❤

That's honestly a great way to look at it that I've somehow never considered! Haha Thank you!

Your post made me smile😊, it is so easy to allow ourselves to get caught up when we try to do something for the first time. Be assured that everything that has been posted is true. Find a time that you feel creative, maybe while watching TV or you can try a tutorial on YouTube and take a deep breath, and just enjoy the journey. Messups, pull it loose and start again. No rush, no pressure, go at your own pace. Try small increments at a time so as not to overwhelm yourself.

You got this, we are here to support you no worries😊. Try not to overthink this. Practice makes perfect😊❤️.

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I appreciate that very much. I'll keep in mind not to overdo it the first few times, too!

@witchybirdie If you're really nervous about being bad, then I'd watch a lot of videos and start with amigurimi which are little stuffed animals! There are a lot of beginner level patterns for free, and even if you mess up I promise it will still be so cute! And the best thing about crochet is that if you mess up, you can just unravel it a bit and fix the mistake. Super duper easy peasy. The hardest thing is knowing where the person in the video is putting their hook, but you'll get it!

@witchybirdie No problem! It'll be easier than you assume,  I'm sure. Once you're doing it you'll wonder why you were so worried in the for place. It's very satisfying and at the end you have a cute thing to keep forever or to gift!
