I believe this time of year is such an important opportunity to reflect, learn and celebrate. It’s a reminder to dig deeper into the stories, struggles and triumphs of Black individuals throughout history and there’s so much we can discover that shapes our world today.

@Heather225 I mean - does it have to only be one month? Can't we have awareness all the time?

To me, I feel we dont necessarily have to dedicate a month for recognition, we dedicate as much time as we want to outside of February to learn and recognize Black struggles, and also contributions to our world.  It shouldnt be confined to, " February is Black History Month", and the rest of the year its disregarded.

@Knightless

of course! Black History Month gives us a specific time to focus and amplify those stories, but that doesn't mean we can't and shouldn't incorporate Black history and contributions into our understanding of history every day of the year.

Okay! So as A young Black Woman I really take Black History month so so so seriously given how much of a minority I am.

I try to spread awareness and make Black History Month as any other holiday or celebration month because I truly think that Black people deserve a greater level of recognition. In my school, for the end of the month, I'm planning a celebration to share with my school my culture as well as traditions in my family as well as those of my peers.

Black History Month to me is a set time that us Black people were given to showcase us and celebrate us. However I think having a month for Black history isn't enough and we shouldn't have to have a month in order to get recognition.
