Whats your favourite aussie word?

CelegnirCuthalion March 5th, 2017

Hello humans of australia and the wider internet,

So i was reading through facebook the other day and i came across quite a funny video about aussie slang, link for the video is HERE. And It gave me an idea. It seems us as a people love to abbreviate things or find any word we can and make a slang version of said word. Now my idea involves asking you guys what is your favourite Aussie word whether it be slang or comepletely made up! or tell us a word you either think no one has heard of or made up yourself cheeky.

I'll repeat all you have to do is post in this thread your favourite Australian word, it has to be orignally form here, and/or made up aussie slang word for all of us to see laugh Lets see what you all come up with!

This is the first of another slang related thread so wathc out for the other!

Ankle biter. It's a funny expression, and the fact that it's used to designate a child/toddler is even funnier. cheeky

ahaha they are pretyy funny cheeky

Hahaha, I agree! It's so interesting how phrases and slang can mean different things in different areas. Where I'm from, "ankle biter" means short or small dog.

Haha! That is hilarious.

that is funny! We use the expression ankle biter in the US for a little dog that has a tendency to snap (like my neigbor's dog LOL). We use the expressions - rug rats, crumb catchers or snot nose for little kids in some areas of the US.

Not an Aussie here, but I have a friend from there. What I find quite interesting is that the word "bikkies" is used for "biscuits" !
