What’s your favorite art medium? πŸ€”πŸ˜€

Destiny4157 May 18th, 2022

Hi everyone!

One of my favorite hobbies is creating art, and my favorite medium is watercolors. I like how watercolors mix and work together on paper to create a beautiful art piece. I want to know if you all have a favorite art medium too.

If you have a favorite art medium, comment down below.πŸ‘‡ I would love to hear from you! πŸ˜†

I have never been able to choose a definitive medium of preference, I just enjoy the process of creating.

I love photography, and have been trying to get back into it, but I'm "old" and have to learn it all over again...gone are the days of film format. LOL! I'm working on getting the hang of digital.

In my youth, I could never settle on a favored medium either, but also never saw the need to do so. I have many ribbons awarded from juried shows from works in various mediums, so I always just kept trying different things...those I enjoyed, I kept working with, those I found that I didn't care for, I stopped using.

Having said all that, I do tend to always have a little sketch pad and small set of graphite pencils in my bag wherever I go. Whether it's to create a quick draft of an idea for a larger piece, or a rough idea for something 3d, it's always there to catch the ideas. Yes, I know it's old school and cumbersome, but I've just not been able to find the same "feel" for flushing out an idea in any digital format.

Maybe this old dog just isn't willing to learn that particular "new trick".🀣🀣

Find what medium you love to work with, but never be afraid to explore something new...you can never tell how far your artwork will take you if you cannot allow yourself to draw outside the lines here and there.πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž

@MunchieTaters These are some wise words to keep in mind! Personally, I prefer doing traditional as well lol, but I do want to experiment with digital. I think it’s cool to try all kinds of art mediums and find the ones you like best. Thanks for commenting! Also, feel free to check out my other forum posts. 😁

I make soaps and oils, however I've finally gotten to tap into my interest of graphic design through CDM 😌 I obtained a Leadership Role in the LSC Team, and what I learned from our first graphic design assignment helped me create the event image for a new special session we're introducing! This has actually helped me push past my social anxiety and tap into a lot of suppressed creativity. Here it is ☺️:

I love pencil drawing...I just recently picked up graphite and charcoal powders to start learning to use. I think they'll add a good bit if dimension to my work, once I get used to them. So far, they're easy to lay down on the paper, great for blending, and simple to smudge!

If you're looking to add a little extra "something" to a piece, I'd recommend trying it...you can make your own to try it out simply by using a nail file and your pencil to create a powder. I apply mine with brushes, but you don't have to. It's been fun playing with them and learning.😁😁😁
