Work Prompt #17: Have you ever experienced burnout?
Welcome back all, I hope you are all taking it easy on yourself at work this week.
Last week we discussed: Do you struggle with self-doubt and negative self-talk? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
It is something that many people can relate to, yet it's often shrouded in silence and stigma. Burnout can manifest in various forms and impact individuals in different ways.
This week's prompt: Have you ever experienced burnout?
The feeling of burnout is like being trapped in a cycle of exhaustion, frustration, and disillusionment. It's a state where your mind and body feel drained, and your motivation and passion dwindle. I am looking forward to discussing it and sharing experiences to support each other in this journey towards emotional well-being. Let's use this space to discuss and share our struggles and challenges to support each other better on this front.
@ASilentObserverI have like I can be super into something and then it all becomes overwhelming and suddenly it is like boom, I am no longer feeling in control, it all looks like too much and then i retreat and move onto something else so I can stop feeling uncomfortable
@Maslow It feel like you have experienced this pattern before where you get engaged with something, feel overwhelmed, lose control, and then switch to something else to avoid those feelings. How did this pattern start?
No clear start point
Definitely experiencing it right now. I've been a clerical worker since I started working at 17. Every time I try to get ahead in my tasks it feels like I get further behind.
I do my normal clerical tasks, I do clearances, and now I do casework (which technically I'm not a caseworker,s o why am I doing these??), and my workload has tripled.
Not to mention, this week I've exp6the loss of my future mother-in-law,so I have ZERO interest in doing anything right now. *sigh*
i know I need
@BuckysKait1984 Yes, burnout can feel overwhelming when we take on too much. It sounds like you are feeling drained and exhausted from juggling multiple responsibilities. Losing someone close can also add to our stress levels. What is contributing most to how you're feeling right now?
A combination of the workload and the loss of my future mother-in-law. It's giving me the overwhelming urge to just sit at my desk and do nothing but the barest of minimums, which is not who I am.
