Resigned from Toxic Job Same-Day

Finally, I resigned from a job that treated me poorly!

I normally DON'T like to do a same-day noticed but I went through so much crap as a temp agent.

I'll be brief and highlight a few reasons why:

  • I was hired as a hybrid (home & office) admin assistant for the finance department, but was thrown into doing accounting and payroll positions AND forced to (mostly) work in office...
  • When I helped out with projects, my boss would tell me I'm 'doing too much work's while providing little to no instruction on what to do and saying I "wasted" his time.
  • Then when I do the work as I'm supposed to, I get told later on I need to do more (hence why I do extra, because I'm prepared and already knew)...
  • When I first started there too, I was told not to talk to anybody, and it felt very...cold there... For example, since I write policies/guidelines for my job title, I asked a certain team if they could give me a job description to add in there, and my boss scolded me saying to not 'talk to them' and how they don't want to talk to me...
  • Again, it happened when the Tech team asked me to tell everyone that a technical issue was fixed, so I sent a message, and boss scolded me saying I'm stepping on toes, even though I'm doing what I was told...
  • I covered for payroll when the payroll clerk left. The payroll clerk screamed at me when i asked her if we should get approval from the executive director when the finance manager was out (since she's covering) and said I was being "stupid"...
  • When I was doing payroll, my boss kept saying I better not call out EVER or he will terminate my contract immediately...
  • I called out for a week when my son and myself were deadly sick, I tested for COVID just in case. My boss scolded me when I came back and took away the payroll position.
  • When my son got sick again, I said I can work from home, boss said no, today is unpaid BUT he called me to do work anyways, unpaid.
  • They also hardly pay me at that job compared to other people, the temp agency makes 4x the amount than I make with NO good benefits...

So... I feel relieved that I left the job on the same day after the build up.

I'm working towards getting my real estate license! I'm excited.

I still have to talk to the temp agent recruiter for why I left suddenly.

Hope everyone is doing well.

@littlelonely236 Sorry you're also going through that. I feel much better after quitting and more relaxed to be honest. At first I was extremely angry, than anxious, and now I'm over it.

Yes, I am sure the peace just came. I recently spoke to some career advisors and all of them told me to put quitting as my new year's resolution. I'm planning just that but waiting use up my company's benefits first 😆
