Why is psycosis, schizophrenia and bipolar togethr

I understand why psycosis and schizophrenia are together, but psycosis schizophrenia AND bipolar? Bipolar should have its own platform and not be associated with us. These are 2 very different disorders.

@itsabaka According to the latest official manual, known as DSM-5-TR, psychosis is not a disorder. It can be one of the symptoms of schizophrenia and it can be one of the symptoms of bipolar disorder. I think this is the reason 7 Cups provides support for schizophrenia and bipolar in the same community.
I kind of agree with you that two separate communities would make a lot of sense, but only if many more people come here seeking support. Otherwise two separate communities would be difficult for 7 Cups to manage with the available volunteers.

I agree! I would love to see these disorders a little more delineated here on 7 Cups as their hallmark symptoms are similar but different. ✨💕✨

I agree with you, I’m not sure why bipolar is here also. Maybe because psychosis may be involved and there’s a psychosis group here?

@yuue
Psychosis can exist within or apart from bipolar or schizophrenia. It’s also a function of ptsd, for example. If we’re going to group sub communities they should at least be similar. Schizoaffective disorder is a common overlap, for example. I also feel that bipolar and schizophrenia are strong enough to warrant their own independent communities, however.

Hit me up I want schizophrenic friend as I am too

Do schizophrenics talk to themselves, and how can I tell if I have an issue or not.
I spend a lot of time alone and I attribute it to this. I am ok around other people, I don't really have any problem having conversations or small talk. I tend to meet a lot of people who talk about deep things mainly because in drinking environments people are drunk.
A few days ago I really wanted to talk out loud to myself in the park so I did, I was having a conversation with god. Is this normal? I don't know if I have psychosis. When I was a child I had some ptsd but I overcame it and later in life as well. I was never diagnosed by anyone, one dr. said I had obsessive thinking or obsessions and compulsions so he prescribed medication many years ago which I stopped taking. Unfortunately I was never tested but My general dr. never said anything about my health
