Bi Polar
Does the medical field REALLY know what's going on with this disorder? Lots of unknowns and guessing with medication.
Hey @CaliConfined ! Nice to meet you
I can hear that it's super frustrating when it feels like medical professionals don't know much about bipolar. Are you currently seeing a psychiatrist/therapist who you feel doesn't understand what you're experiencing?
@beck1
Yes, we do our session over Zoom, and bases on how I am doing on I survey I take before... Just wants to throw more medication with more side effects. I've been to a lot of doctors and therapists which has resulted in a lot of money wasted and being in the same position. There is no real clear answer and its discouraging when it all brings about is more confusion.
Unfortunately there is no cure, but the symptoms can be managed with the right medication and therapy. I turned my life around, however I don't like the weight gain my medicine caused but that particular medication is what works for me personally. I want a baby, can't take it while you're pregnant either the doctor warned me they'd have to put me on something else before my boyfriend and I even start trying.
I've asked a previous psychiatrist if there will even be a cure and not even she knew and there are theories and factors about what CAN cause bipolar disorder but I don't think they know the cause for every individual it's very complicated.

So basically for 2% of the population of the world (us) we just got extremely unlucky?
This sucks so bad - I don't think I can live a life of suffering like this.
Hey. The meds and the psychatrists are evolving at best they can. Te uncertainty will be solved in time.
It can be very upsetting and discouraging when medications aren't working. I can surely relate. It helps to remind ourselves that everyone is on their own path in recovery and some take longer to find that good balance when it comes to medications. How long have you been doing medication management with a doctor or psych?
