How to support better someone with Bipolarity

irvisa February 9th, 2019

Hello :)

my brother was diagnosed with bipolarity about 7 years ago and even now, I still struggle helping him.

I would really appreciate if you could give me any advice on how to support him better and help him.

Thank you so much

Many people who have bipolar disorder find they can control it with medication. I guess if your brother relies on you for help, and you struggle to help him, then he hasn't found medication that works well for him.

Perhaps he could ask the doctor in charge of his care to suggest ways that you can help. Mostly, I suppose, people need help when they are experiencing extreme feelings of depression or mania, to ensure that they don't harm themselves in any way. Another way people can sometimes help is by noticing the early warning signs of a mood change. Sometimes sufferers have a written plan that tells them what to do when they notice an early sign. If your brother has a plan like that, maybe you can help him with it.
