autism

luvszzz June 2nd, 2023

I have been suspecting myself of having autism for a while, since my therapist said that i might have aspergers. I talked to a doctor which i regulally go to because ive been diagnosed with depression, but they refused to diagnose me because i didnt have any visible signs when i was a kid. i dont know, i still have a lot of symptoms of autism, should i get the opinion of another doctor too?

you have do lot of test evaluations to see if autistic or no isn’t just talk to doctor one time when I get diagnosed had go special doctor do lot of evaluations and my parents fill out million papers and stuff I didn’t do any papers but I can’t write and don’t understand questions but was 3 big appointments I think before go to last appointment see if diagnosed and was they diagnose level 2 and 3 autism to me

already since I’m little I am diagnosed intellectual disability epilepsy learning disabilities deaf chromosome syndrome adhd so not know if that makes so much appointments different from normal ones but was long thing to get diagnosis

@luvszzz

I'd definitely recommend getting a second opinion if it's important to you. Just because you were asymptomatic as a child doesn't mean you don't have ASD.

@luvszzz Consider reaching out to a specialist in neurodevelopmental disorders or a psychiatrist who specializes in diagnosing autism spectrum disorders. They can assess your symptoms, conduct a thorough evaluation, and provide a professional opinion regarding your potential diagnosis. Additionally, seeking out professionals who specifically work with adults on the autism spectrum may be beneficial, as they will have experience in identifying and diagnosing autism in individuals who may not have exhibited noticeable signs during childhood. It's essential to advocate for yourself and seek the support and validation you need. Remember that a diagnosis can provide valuable insights and access to appropriate resources and support services. Keep in mind that a diagnosis is a complex process and involves considering various factors, so it's important to consult with professionals who can provide a comprehensive assessment.
