Autism Awareness Day (April 2nd, 2022)
Happy Autism Awareness Day! April 2nd is an International day marked for proper understanding of Autism, acceptance of those on the Autism spectrum and for fostering worldwide support and inspiring people to take a stand on Autism Awareness.
The 17 sustainable development goals developed by the United Nations as a blueprint for addressing the major challenges facing the world, including inequality. The pandemic in 2020 has exacerbated the issue of inequalities in Education. Students with autism have been especially affected with the disruptions in routines, as well as the services and support they rely on.
In this respect, the SDG’s echo the UN convention on the Rights Of Persons With Disabilities. Article 24 of the convention states that people with disabilities have the right to inclusive, quality education on equal basis with others and that reasonable accommodation of the individual’s needs be provided.
That is why the theme of this year’s Autism Awareness Day is ‘Inclusion In The Workplace’ which emphasizes how important it is for people on the autism spectrum to receive quality education so they can fulfill their potential and have success in the labour market.
On this day, April 2nd we stand for inclusivity in all aspects of life including but not limited to Education, Healthcare, Work and Career, etc.
