The demons in my head

softBubbles64 August 28th, 2019

I am a listener here. That doesn't mean I am perfectly mentally healthy. Nobody is. Everybody has their own challenges to face. My greatest challenge is social anxiety. It's not that I get social anxiety all the time. I get anxious when I have to go somewhere new or interact with new people. I anticipate sth bad is going to happen or the new person might not be as I expect them to be and get anxious overthinking how am I going to face those situations. I create various scenarios in my head and try to decide how am I going to deal with each situation. This overthinking is physically and mentally very exhausting. Whatever is going to happen in the future is beyond my control. I am trying to learn and control this overthinking which leads to anxiety. I need to let go of the desperate need to control everything and just face life as it is. These are the demons in my head and I am going to fight them and move ahead one day.☺

@softBubbles64 To get support for your overthinking and help in fighting those demons, 7 Cups asks you to use your member account, not your listener account. This is rule 7 in the forum guidelines. Personally, I'm not sure it's a good rule, but it's the rule.

Have you found our Social Anxiety guide helpful?

@softBubbles64 Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't understand the logic behind it.

@RarelyCharlie

No problem. It's all good. I have actually researched a lot on how to deal with social anxiety. I use the advices myself and even share those with my members. On a scale of 1-10 u can say my social anxiety is now abt a 2. This post wasnt meant for a cry of help, rather to show that social anxiety can be managed and controlled if u hav the will to do it and not give up on yrrself.
