feeling like you’ll never fit any job ever.
trying to figure out what job to do. i considered in the funeral field. but whenever i picture myself somewhere, i internally freak out. like i can’t SEE myself fitting any jobs ever. i’ll fuck up, i won’t be good at it, i’m not a public speaking person, therefore i will fail and make a fool of myself, i’ll get fired, i’ll be ashamed, my parents will be ashamed. all these things running in my head whenever i freak out while picturing myself in a job. i HATE it. because it feels so real.
You are not alone. I don't know what to do in my life either. I am jobless for a year and five months now and it's not even related to covid. I also fear being seen as incompetent and fail. These fears are based on my lack of skills. I see you and I feel the same way. Hope we will find confidence in ourselves someday. Hold on buddy, I'm with you.

Society puts a TON of pressure on people about jobs. From the time we enter kindergarten we are asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" School probably asks that each year through elementary school. And then in upper level schools they show you career days. And in high school they're asking you where you're going to college and what are you going to study and what kind of a job can you get with your degre....
It's frustrating and can be overwhelming, especially if you're not sure. And YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE SURE. I'm 50+ years old and have had a ton of different jobs in my life. Were any of them a career? Were any of them what I said I "wanted to be" when I was a kid? Nope. They were things I did to pay the bills.
But, even though they weren't my "dream job" (whatever that is - I still don't know), I went out and learned from each and every one of them. That's what I think is more important than the type of job. Work at a restaurant or retail to learn about customer service and social interaction. Work a labor job to understand what it means to use your physical strength. Work an office job to learn about schedules, business etiquette and how different teams work together. Work in medical or religious roles to learn compassion and listening skills.
Work any job to learn about stress, disappointment and achievement.
Don't worry so much about what the job is that you do. Think more about what you will bring to it and what you will take away from it.
i'm in the same situation right now .. I'm enemplyed for a year now and i'm not sur if i want to stay in my field of work but at the same time i don't know what i sohould do if that make sense ?
And it took me so long to find a field that i liked that it makes me feel so bad just thinking about changing path... and you know what people will think about it , my family will probabbly think that i'm lazy or something and it's just overwhelming sometimes...
The pandemic doesn't reaaly help i think it just put a lot of problems on the front instead of me burying them like i did for long now..
