Muscle Soreness From Anxiety?

SilverSalmon15 January 20th, 2021

A couple months ago, my anxiety got way worse and I basically started a huge downward spiral. At one point I was having around 10 panic attacks a day. It's gotten better since then, and I've been practicing a lot of self-care. I'm hoping that my life will get back to normal again soon. But although I'm not experiencing panic attacks anymore, I still have a lot of physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscle pain, and joint pain. I was wondering if anyone else with anxiety has experienced this? Is it a normal symptom? I'm a huge hypochondriac so it's kinda been freaking me out. I've also developed a tremor (I assume also due to anxiety) but it's been getting better over the past few weeks. I just hope this muscle pain is anxiety-related and not something more serious.

i have a "general" feeling of daily anxiety that causes me to be tense. That tension builds up in the muscles and makes me feel sore and achy. Don't know if you still have a generalized anxiety thing going on. I'm happy you aren't having so many daily panic attacks, I know How horrible that can be

i'm so happy to hear that you've been practicing self care! that is a huge step and you're so so strong for making it this far! and yes i can assure you that all of those feelings are completely normal with anxiety. this is your bodily response to possible stress or anything that you're holding in. your body sometimes puts itself in whats called fight or flight mode. its your brains response to preparing for potential danger. i find that even if your anxiety gets better, your body can still react in its old ways purely due to habit. it's completely normal, and i find that a great way to help make these better is to try and release your feelings! doing things such as writing everything out or doing some light exercise has helped me in the past. it will go away and will get better. you're so so strong!
