Anxious about economy
I'm 25 and trying to set myself up but with how things have been going in the world, it's very difficult. I worry about my future and how I'll manage. it seems almost impossible for this current generation to even buy a house. I know lots of people are struggling so how do you cope? Have you tried things or changed things that have eased these kind of worries?
@sensitiveStrawberry97
Hey there Strawberry, in a sort of exact sentiment as you. I always hear the older adults saying how hard it is to get a house and how much more expensive things will cost in the future. I kind of like to counteract this by thinking about the things I have rather than the things I need to obtain in the future. That way I can worry about finances one thing at a time as time goes on.
One thing that gives me peace of mine is preparing for inflation (and in a way, disasters). When I shop for groceries I’ll buy extra items that are shelf stable. Over time, I have a bit of food storage.
Also, no credit cards. They are basically a sink hole. It’s easier said than done for sure. We currently have one that we use for emergencies and then pay off. It suuuucks.
An idea I wish I had done is a technical training school. The jobs typically pay very well.
Thanks for sharing some great ideas, I have recently started to think of slowly creating a stockpile of things too, so there's always things at home, so we're less likely to go out shopping and can save on getting takeaways and petrol to go out, another thing that has gone up in price 🥲. I've not heard of a technical training school 🤔
Im in the US. Technical training schools is what we call university for careers like building, plumbing, HVAC (mechanical), electrical, masonry and energy.
