Talk back to your worries!
Hello Everyone!
The lovely @ZizyTheTurtle and I decided we would collaborate together to create a positive thread where you talk back to your worries!
Anxiety is a type of fear usually associated with the thought of a threat or something happening in the future, but can also arise from something happening in the present moment.
Negative self-talk is a major contributor to daily anxiety. Because its routine for most people, some dont even realize that theyre doing it. It can often result from long-held fears and worries.
What can be done to counter these negative thoughts about ourselves, our future, and the world in general? The answer: talking back to your worries.
In this forum thread, you will be able to voice your worries to the community while also showing others how youre combating your negative thoughts.
Important note: If you dont know how to respond positively to your worries and try to overcome them, one of the forum supporters will help you see what youre worrying about in a different light. Just give it a go! (there are no wrong answers)
An example of this would be:
Thought: Im worried about seeing my niece for the first time tomorrow. She might not like me.
Positive replacement: Its okay to feel like this. I get to feel more connected with my family and enjoy precious time with them. I care about her and will have a great day!
Thank you for reading this thread: wed love to hear your positive responses!

I am scared of having a conversation about money with my husband.
My husband is a smart and loving man. We will be able to work on a solution together and grow closer through the experience.
@PurpleCarrots
Wow, you're good at this!
It's been two days since I found out my bastard of a father has been cheating on my mom. He's been having the affair for 4 years already. Worse thing about it is that he has a kid with the lady. God. I haven't been able to look at him the same since then. I want to confront him but I'm afraid my anger issues will control me. I don't know what I'd do. Just make my life even more fucked up. I keep looking at all the outcomes when I do speak to him. Knowing my family will be destroyed breaks my heart. For a big guy like me I really am pathetic. I just hope I don't do anything I'd regret when I confront him. Don't want to end up in prison. Want to be there for my mom. God. My heart just pounds so hard it hurts when I think about it.
I have anxiety everyday doing most things. I feel it helps when im mindful of the thoughts im having. I then notice them lable them 'my anxious thoughts' and im able to let them go!
I've always thought I was never good enough, because of what I'm into. I always see things in either black or white. I hear things in black and white.
Even though I'm coming out of my hole, that I'm coming out of my shell, sometimes I still feel like I don't belong in this world. That I'm just another face/ I'm not significant. I don't have an awesome job, a social life, a love life, or a sex life. I still have yet to experience all of those things.
And because of that very reason, sometimes I feel like I just don't belong.
@Nick8876
Hey Nick!
I can completely understand how you feel about not fitting in sometimes. Remember not to let peer-pressure get to you! You can do things how you want and be yourself, people will love you for it! You do belong here, lovely. You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it!
I think that what you mentioned about black and white thinking is also defined as "all or nothing" thoughts. This is where you think something is definitely going to happen, or not at all. Or, that you certainly are something, or definitely are not. For example: "I am a complete failure." Instead of thinking like this, you could replace it with a positive thought such as: "Everybody makes mistakes! As long as I try my best, that's all anyone can ask of me."
Thank you for sharing, wishing you the best!
Voices need to be heard. If your being bullied or hurt by anyone. You need to say something. Nobody can help you till you tell someone. Stand up for what is right. Even tell any listener here. We are here to help you deal with any struggles. You are strong and poweful. I am hoping to make my voice heard by getting a letter to the president about bullying, self-harming, and suicide. That is how my voice will be heard.
I have been told my emotion were fake for many years... I have imprinted this enough that now when I feel I isolate myself, and have emotion attacks. I have been struggling with this more and more lately... what can I do?
@SamanthaDustin Oh Samantha I am sorry somebody told you that but let me tell you No. Your feelings aren't fake. And because they are real you feel that anxiety inside you. I am worried about trying to get back into school. The last thing I want to do is dig myself a financial grave and bury myself in it with unsuccessful classes.
I want so badly to earn my bachelor's degree knowing it would open up so many better option for me in a career. I am afraid of being stuck where I am or putting myself in a bad possition in the process of trying to pursue something better.
On the other hand, I have the resources to look for help and good advice and I have a good finance cushion to fall back on right now if I need to. I have earned enough room to make a few mistakes and I know what kind of career I am after. That gives me a better chance at taking classes that will earn me the right degree so I can advance in life the way I hope to. Fingers crossed.
@Maddz4Christ Hey Christ I can see you are pretty much clear on what you want to do and if you are passionate about it I do not think there will be any mistake. I must admire your plan. Wish you all the very best. We all are here to support you.
I have a lot of things to get done, but I tend to procrastinate or forget to do things that might have serious consequences.
I can parcel things out and make a plan for how to get things done still leaving time for relaxation. I can learn to be more organized so that I don't forget things. I can stop avoiding things I don't want to do right away so I don't forget about them later.
@Pinnae Hi Pinnae. I think we all are wired to procrastinate so it's inbuilt in us. I can understand it takes all the more effort to undo that to some extent. But you have a good plan to avoid the pitfalls. You may also consider putting the important things in a checklist and ticking it of once done so you keep checking it in some frequency and don't miss out on anything. All the best. Persevere in your plan and it should definitely work.
@Pinnae
Omg this is so me as well... It gets very frustrating when the procrastination has become a bad habit... I π’π‘π‘π€π£
