I have a lot of fears. Death being my main one. Its always bothered me how we know nothing about it. Im scared of planes and roller coasters and driving fast and I chalk that up to the anxiety and the fact that i feel like I cant control whats happening around me.

I have a phobia of razors, knifes, and sharp things. I don't like cuts or like having them near me.

I am terrified of elevators. I have to take an elevator to get to my job, which happens to be 6 stories up from the ground floor - and it's bad enough to the point where I walk all six flights of stairs in heels because everytime I get in the elevator I have a full blown anxiety attack. It doesn't help when there's a lot of people in one, because of my fear of crowds as well.

Do you know what, @Insomniax?

I am pretty similar. My big anxiety was that I could almost feel no floor being there. It affects me for flying and going over bridges. It's much better nowadays but still is there.

Is that similar to your phobia or is it something else?

Dresses/clothing that identify me as something Idon't want (girly, snob, fat etc) Or you know, dressing up at all (professionaly,wedding,cosplay/costume. I just can't.) Tangled with that is beingterifiedof singing,dancing.If there's music playing I freeze up, I get stiff. As if to make sure everyone knows I am notparticipating in this. Which looks even worse I know, but I just.. can't. After so many years I seriously don't know how to 'move to the music.' (Even alone in my house.)

My tangled demon. Fear ofjudgment I guess. Idesperatlywant/need to get through thesedemons, my guy has helped me through some of my tough shells, but he can't seem to touch this one. I want him to. But I don't. Yah? I'm scared it could be the bane of our relationship... :(

My whole clothes thing makes my SOsad because he'd love nothing more than to see me in "a tattered skirt with combat boots." The facthe wants it so badly scares me-I think he wants it because it's something I won't give in on. If I start doing something I fought for so long, what will people think? Weak...

I often just sit there while he's running karaokeand people are noticing me, whispering amongst themselves. More less 'why is she just sitting here all alone?'I don't leave the table. I don't know what to do. And am scared of looking like I don't know/am lost/scared/confused/what do I even do?! O_oGAH!? *thud* I get up, to do ... what? Walk around aimlessly? I'd bea stranger imposing myself. No thanks.

GRRRIRRATIONAL FEARS. x.x

Being afraid of being judged based on your appearance is very understandable. I have social anxiety/phobia myself and that's exactly why I have it too--being afraid of what other people think.

Your partner has no right in pressuring you to do something you don't want. Especially if it is something related to your phobia.

InversedSole, i know howyou feel. There are a quitealotof peoplewho have the same phobias as you, even me. The thought of negative attention or response from others can hold us back and hinder our selfconfidence.

I never used to know how to dance in front of other people until I bought a nintendo wii, which gave me a bit of confidence as I was having fun dancing alone. When I saw small children dancing at parties I joined in And thats how I became more confident. If you dont have a wii, youtube is a good place to learn how to dance and dancing to well known dances such as the macarena or line dancing can help too.

Also observing other people can help boost your confidence too.

Just so you guys know you aren't alone, us listeners have phobias too. I have a horrible phobia of snakes. I was in Arizona in treatment out on a ranch. I was walking back from the art room late at night and I saw a rattle snake. I have never been so terrified in all my life.

iam also afraid of heights. Going skydiving and throwing myself out of a perfectly good aircraft and surviving took care of that one though!

@Angelwings2

It's funny that you say that about snakes. We don't have them in this country so while I was in Australia I decided to test whether I was afraid of them. A 9 foot python was draped over my neck and yeah.. I have a healthy respect but not fear per se :)

My phobia is the same asAlena9896, I'm afraid of throwing up. My whole life revolves around not throwing up/not seeing someone throw up. It's non sense :(

I happen to have Entophobia, which is the fear of insects. After I tell people what it means because most have never heard of it they tend to not believe me, then after i tell them that yes i'm afraid of even butterflies and ladybugs they laugh it off. The only person that seems to take my phobia seriously is my mom, she's my only blood related family i have left so really, if anyone is going to take it seriously it should be her.

@LorenaTralala

I wouldn't jest about it because I know a couple of people with the same. It's a pretty hard thing to get around because they're everywhere!

How do you manage it??

Hello... I have a fear of arthropods. I hate insects, spiders, crustaceans. They just disgust me. Even lobsters and crabs freak me out. So many people eat crustaceans, but the thought of eating something like that makes me want to retch. I would even go as far as to say that I wish they would all die. I hate arthropods!

I'm also really terrified of the dark. It scares me to see all those shadows and unfamiliar shapes. Being in the dark alone makes me feel threatened. I don't think I will ever get over it.

My last fear is ghosts, which is strange because I'm not even sure if I believe in ghosts. Any kind of paranormal ideas just paralyze me.Even mild ghost movies upset me. Sometimes I scare myself into a state of panic because I am imagining all sorts of scary ghosts or something.
