Coping with Anxiety
I know coping with anxiety is hard. And I’ve been down that road many a times. One thing that has helped me is to “get out of my head” so to speak. As I have noted what feeds anxiety is over-thinking. I’ve found distractions help, going to a gym helps. My biggest obstacle was me, and when I discovered that “staying out of my head” helps a lot. My gym trainer calls it “staying in the moment” and not let your mind run off on some wild thoughts.
@agreeableShade4304 Thank you for opening up with us Shade. I am glad you have had some success with finding activities like going to the gym that help distract you from anxious thoughts! What kinds of things do you usually find yourself thinking about when you're feeling most anxious?
I find what usually brings it on recently is if I’m alone and I start to feel isolated. A good example is I was at the gym yesterday and I had my headphones on. And, even though there were people around. The headphones gave the sensation of being isolated, and started to feel the anxiety building. I pulled my headphones off and focused on what I was supposed to be doing and not what was going on in my mind. It eased up at that point. Thanks Silent, I hope all is well with you.
