Dating and Adhd (Mental Age Lag)

lavenderLion2361 November 30th, 2023

Hello! I read somewhere that there can be a 30-40% lag between the mental age of someone with adhd compared to neurotypical aged matched peers. Do you think it could therefore be possible/make sence for some people that have adhd to only feel comfortable dating people who are younger than them - slightly more matched to their mental age than their chronological age? Or do you think that would be wrong??

@lavenderLion2361 nahh. It's ok to find someone who matches you, as long as they are a consenting adult. If you feel like a younger person will be a better match, go for it. I'm personally looking into getting my ADHD diagnosis currently and I'm dating someone who is a few years older. From my experience, I love it. He complements my childish immaturity where needed. So I can totally vouch for a few years older person being a good match despite my ADHD, but I believe a little younger can also be a great match. It is up to you who you fall in love with and all love stories are unique 🌻
