The impact of mindset and good mental health
welcome to today's post!💚
The theme of this month's event is MHAM (Mental Health Awareness Month).
In light of this I want to open up the discussion of mindsets in the role of maintaining a good mental health.
As part of the P&G community, the focus of positivity and gratitude in having a healthy outlook is acknowledged and highly valued in this community. The impact of a good relationship with our mindset can be tremendous in maintaining hope, being resilient and having a healthy mind :)
What exactly is a mindset?
"Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself" [very well mind] This can impact how we view and interact with the world.
why is this important?
As our mindsets shape our view of the world, how we choose to create and shift them can change our worldview, thus having the ability to aid massively in how we view and respond to our mental health.
What is a good mindset?
"Good" especially in terms of mindsets is very subjective, however we can aim to all have a healthy mindset! Healthy mindsets often fall under what can be called a 'growth mindset'; of which is the belief that abilities can be developed through hard work, as well as positivity and realism! A healthy mindset can make us more resilient to change and challenges, more able to adapt to disappointing situations and more confident in handling stress.
Mental Health and mindsets
our mental health can impact all areas of life, especially our outlook on it. It is important to try to maintain a mindset that enables us to face our health and find hope, as mental health can be helped and improved! We have all faced challenges wanting to view things in a positive light, as this week brings attention to our struggles it's important too to bring attention to how we cope and view these. Mindsets will never be perfect and that is just as healthy as aiming for a positive one!
To reflect on this discussion, here are some questions :)
1.)How would you describe your mindset?
2.)How do you feel positivity can improve your mental health?
3.)What are some ways you can make your mindset more healthy?

@KatieTheBigRockOne katie! what a lovely post you've made. such an amazing and relevant topic.
1.)How would you describe your mindset?
i would say my mindset is improving, with still room for improvement xD i've really noticed changes in my mindset over the past few months in a positive way, however, since I try to recognise my mindset and thoughts pattern more i also realised that i still have some really negative subconscious beliefs that will require some work! which is totally fine of course. :)
2.)How do you feel positivity can improve your mental health?
i really think that trying to adapt a more positive mindset can help you tackle so many obstacles in life. of course, it is totally valid and okay to just be sad and feel negative at times. thats human. but sometimes, adapting a positive mindset regarding things that are for instance out of our control anyways can really help us kind of to just go with it.
3.)What are some ways you can make your mindset more healthy?
through meditation i really am able to see a difference in my thought patterns as I a) tend to recognise them more and therefore b) get to swap them for positive ones during the day.
@AveryLove Thankyou so much for this reply!
It sounds like your mindset is flexible, and growing in the right direction for you :) positivity in your outlook is always good, although having aspects of improvement is also a good reflection of a healthy mindset. Being able to recognise and appreciate growth whilst still being determined to improve and work through subconscious beliefs are all aspects of health there, I wish you the best of luck working through it!
I completely agree with your view on positivity and mindsets 😊 positivity whether it be on outlook to situations or viewpoints can massively help in our ability to respond to reality and cope, however being able to accept negatives and allow negative feelings to exist is just as important. Both aspects of that enable a healthy mindset to grow
I'm glad to hear meditation is going so well for you! Allowing time for the mind to still can make you more adaptable when it's lively, making it easier to replace thoughts with positive ones! journalling can also help recognise thought processes and better explore why they are there, and how to work through them :0

1.)How would you describe your mindset?
It's more like a growth mindset where i always try to improve myself..and.the tasks i do. Also i tend to be lazy sometimes..hehe
2.)How do you feel positivity can improve your mental health?
Happiness is always a good feeling for me..and being positive makes me happy..which reduces my worries
3.)What are some ways you can make your mindset more healthy?
Journaling would be a good start...it will remind me that i am blessed..it will make me more grateful to things.
@BlueRiver5968 I really appreciate this reply!
A growth mindset is a great one to have :) Consistently trying to improve yourself and what you do are all aspects of a healthy mindset, although being able to be down or a little lazy sometimes :P is also a sign of health, balance is often key
I love the way you answered the second question :) Happiness is certainly a great feeling, being positive can create more happiness by shifting your focus onto good things, that could reduce your worries quite well!
Journalling is a great place to start, whether it be in the form of structured prompts or diary entries, it can allow for good reflection on life and thoughts, a gratitude journal might be something that interests you 💚
Hello, thank you for this thoughtful piece of introduction. The interesting part starts with all the replies. That's why I'm going to post my reflections and hopefully someone can find them inspiring.
1.)How would you describe your mindset?
I would say my mindset is rather positive as long as I have control. When stress, anxiety, or strong emotions take over me I no longer have the ability to think in a positive way. That's why I'm always improving and finding my ways to cope in order to keep my mindset friendly.
2.)How do you feel positivity can improve your mental health?
Positivity for me is not always finding the bright sides but mostly finding beauty and happiness in small things. I try to appreciate tiny details of everyday life. Positivity really helps with it. You stop caring that much and you want to become a better person in general.
3.)What are some ways you can make your mindset more healthy?
Give yourself space and time. Set small goals for every day and celebrate when you achieve them. Try to look at your situation from a distance, and treat yourself as you would your best friend.
Thank you for listening, I hope you'll have a great day. Stay safe <333
@Antthony101 Thank you for this well thought out and reflective answer 💚
Being in control of your mindset can help you shift it to a more positive one, by the sounds of it you have a resilient mindset in the face of stress, anxiety and strong emotions to be able to keep your viewpoint friendly :)
I love your view on positivity, as much as it's good to see the positive as finding the bright side of things, seeing the positive as the beauty and happiness of small things can make life more interesting, and all of those aspects more appreciated. Positivity is certainly powerful in keeping that up and maintaining the want to keep improving
You have some very good tips for improving mindsets 😊time and space are important in allowing something to grow, having goals you can celebrate is a great way to keep moving forward, and of course treating yourself kindly!
Have a wonderful day
@KatieTheBigRockOne
1.)How would you describe your mindset?
I'm not really sure how much I understand this yet but my current mindset isn't in the most healthy or positive place
2.)How do you feel positivity can improve your mental health?
Positivity is helpful for improving mental health in a very simple manner too , the hope that things will be better and days will get brighter.
3.)What are some ways you can make your mindset more healthy?
Cutting of negative self - talk, not getting triggered by others around .... can only think of this right now
@Optimisticempath I appreciate your response 💚
It is okay to be unsure of where you stand with and how you define your mindset, I hope you are able to move to a better place, there must always be a starting point, it's good you recognise what is it :)
The simple hope that things will get better and days brighter is powerful for motivating yourself to improve your mindset, positivity really can be a great tool there
It's also okay that you cannot think of too many ways to improve mindsets, it can be quite the topic! But you know a few great ones; decreasing negative self talk, replacing it with positive and working through triggers can be awesome starts to it all
I hope you're doing well
@KatieTheBigRockOne
Thanks for the validating response ❤
