Cow's Hobby Journal
Hello and welcome โจ
I don't know yet what I'm going to share. Probably I'll do some special drawings for this place. I also paint and I would have liked to share some with you, but I also shared them publicly in other places and I would not want to be potentially recognized.
I also make decors/customizations, photography, bouquets, and digital drawings :)
@butterlycow Can't wait to see, and yes I agree re the recognition factor. I try and create something just for Cups. What kind of paint do you use? any tips to share? And I have added your journal to the masterpost here
Listening - One Step At A Time!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to share, Butterly. โค๏ธ
When you're looking at a bare canvas, where do you like to start? I'm new at this... I use to paint when I was in high school... a long, long, (really long) time ago...lol. For me, the hardest part of doing anything is just Starting... so, that's why I'm asking. I might even pick up a few colors and give it a try sometime...
That's a good question and I'm not even sure. I think you're supposed to start from the bottom and work in layers but especially before, I was absorbed by an idea and start directly by drawing the main idea without thinking. It was easy for me a few years ago, I miss it ๐ Now I'm lost too !
@butterlycow
Had some time to think about this... Maybe it would be good to just listen to what ever comes up... like you said, your main idea. But - what may happen is that you have an idea in your head to start with but when you look at the canvas, something else comes up... I think this might be a sort of 'mindfulness' approach. What do you think? ๐
I definitely relate to that. I really try to let things happen when I paint. My main idea when I have one is never detailed anyway so it always leaves room for other things to arrive.
But in general if I have a very strong idea from the start, nothing totally different will arrive or it will feel like it's another painting project, for later.
Besides, I started painting when I was 17, by being very inspired by a particular painting, but I had neither the technique nor even the same material to copy this painting, so I did everything in my own way and the result was totally different from the original inspiration. And I loved it ! Because I had no expectations, it was just fun and experimentation ! (I wished I could go back to this state of mind.)
So yeah oddly, copying also gives me some free inspiration thanks to or because of my lack of knowledge.
Sometimes just trying to paint in a pleseant way and see where it goes is also interesting. Just focusing on the gesture. And it can create a form that makes us think of other things... And so on...
It reminds me of an artist you can find on Instagram under the name of @janefloats, this painter makes her paintings evolve enormously and often documents all the stages, it's very interesting to see.
@butterlycow
You said, "But
in general if I have a very strong idea from the start, nothing totally
different will arrive or it will feel like it's another painting
project, for later." That makes total sense to me.
So cool that you were inspired at such a young age.
I really like your attitude around painting. You make it sound like a wonderful mindful journey. ๐โค๏ธ๐บ
I was tired of not having anything to share here so I drew a silhouette with eyes closed on blue paper and I touched it up with the free version of photoshop ๐ง
Here is a photo that I took and also edited.
@butterlycow
That is gorgeous!
I think I will focus on abstract, minimalism and retouched photography. Perhaps this is the opportunity to dive into a more emotional and symbolic side of creation.
I am still frustrated that I can't share my other paintings and crafts however.
@butterlycow Why can't you share your other works? Technical/upload issues?
No it's just because I don't want to be recognized ! I shared lots of my arts on my social medias + showed them to relatives
@butterlycow
I don't blame you at all. It makes sense to keep the worlds separate and to protect your identity. ๐
Hey Butter!! Nice to see you posting more!!! I've been gone visiting family but I'm back, so I will be keeping an eye on your journal. Thanks for sharing! โค๏ธ ๐

@EmbStitcher33 Hey ! So good to see you :) I'm glad you're doing ok, thank you for your kind comment ๐ It's so heartwarming to see you're thinking about me ! I don't create much those days but hopefully I will be inspired and have something to share in here soon :)
