Perhaps you like something punny? Put on your best gown and add a few "sorry"s and you’ve got your very own “formal apology” costume! Feeling full of hot air? Blow up some purple or green balloons and become a bunch of grapes in no time! Maybe you still have an overabundance of cardboard lying around? Turn those boxes into inspiration, will you be a Lego block? A robot? Unleash your imagination and go for it!
Sure store bought costumes can save you some of the time and effort it takes to make your own costume. But if you love to sew, craft or create, the journey to a great costume can be as much fun as the destination. It’s sure to be a memorable occasion, not to mention homemade costumes can save you some money, and are sure to be one of a kind!

Have you ever made your own costume for Halloween or another costume party? What did you create?
No sadly not... I have a confession that I've never been to a costume party of any kind 😮
Funny, cute, magical or scary? What kind of costume do you prefer?
Hm, probably funny, something that would make people laugh. Silly is always a good option!
Have any great ideas just waiting to be made reality?
Uhh I'm currently looking at a super fluffy jumper that's just come out of the dryer all nice and warm... And I have an immediate great idea of wearing that, cats looooove to be warm 😸

After your post and getting into the spooky spooky spirit this week, I must say I am considering it! I've never dressed up for Halloween before 😮🎃
To make up for my lack of spookiness and costumes, here are some cats dressed up and ready to show off their outfits!
@SleepyShyCat
They are so cute!
They may not be yours but I love them just the same!
Thank you for sharing. They've made my day 😊
@SleepyShyCat Oh Wow @ those cats! amazing I love it

Never been to any kind of costume party, do you think you'd want to go to one? Or put on a costume just for fun? Perhaps you can think of a silly costume you would enjoy?
A fluffy jumper sounds comfortable, and yes fresh out of the dryer warmth is often quite tempting, for me it's blankets fresh from the dryer that I can't seem to resist!
I find most of the fun for me in wearing a costume is coming up with the idea and then finding a way to make that idea a reality, the wearing it is okay too though. That reminds me I need to go get some gold glitter for my costume.... I mean... shhhh! 🎃
The last few years I've mostly made costumes for my cat, this year I'm very behind on my cat-costume crafting, I have the idea, but finding the time to make it a reality has been more challenging that I would like. I may have to think of a new idea for my kitty this year! I was going to make her a pile of leaves, but maybe I will go back to little red riding hood idea I had last year, she really liked her vampire cape. (No this is not her.)

Party and Cat don't really mix well I'm afraid, so much sensory input it hurts, but I think if I found a costume which was a texture I could tolerate, then I'm sure it would be lots of fun, especially if it was just me and my close friends. I imagine it would be even more fun if we had matching costumes!
Gold glitter for a costume you say.. Now what could that be for 😮
I find it adorable that your cat gets homemade costumes!! That sounds like so much fun! I hope you get to make it in time for Halloween so you can have a spooky kitty 👻😸
Now, how do you make a cat into a pile of leaves 🤔
A cat in a cape, awww 🥺
@EmotionsListener
First of all, thank you for all your hard work and creating this post. I really appreciate it.

Have you ever made your own costume for Halloween or another costume party? What did you create?
A long time ago, I made a costume for a Gala Day. I had forgotten about it until the night before and the shops were closed.
My father and I spent hours creating a wearable computer, as we called it. The body was made of cardboard, had a real keyboard and mouse attached to the front, a cable going out the bag so I could be 'plugged in' and on my head was the computer screen; a hole cut out so my face was the screen.
For some reason, I used a plastic cup, straw and tin foil to make an antena, even though computers don't have them. I ended up winning second prize. Haha.

Magical. On a gaming platform, I dressed up my character as a cat-witch 😂

Have any great ideas just waiting to be made reality?
So many! My head is always filled with possibilities. Haha.

I would if I had what I needed. If I still had my sewing machine and enough money to buy an overlocker, I would have jumped to the chance! Instead, I'm going to follow another person's idea and share some pictures from the web I like. I hope they make people happy. 😊
@DipityEnigma
Thanks for sharing the photos - they definitely made me happy! The cat is adorable and the hedgehog really made me laugh 😸🦔
Maybe I should spend my time crafting my cat his very own Halloween costume 😮
@DipityEnigma I prefer the batcat lol or is it catbat lol thanks for posting them

Ah the last minute costume scramble, I don't usually worry about that for me, but there have been a few of those for my feline friend's frightening costumes. I've made her one each year she's lived with me. She's been helping me learn what kind of costumes she likes.
As to your computer costume it sounds like it was quite an effort for that last minute dash! Congratulations on winning second prize. I think the best costumes are the ones that are made with some effort and creativity! Sometimes that last minute pressure pushes us to excel!
Magical costumes are great. As a child there were many years where I dressed up as a witch, now I get to crochet my own witches hats when I have free time... (I forget what that is! Oh no!) Though I will admit, I like any costume except gory-scary ones.
A head full of possibility sounds great, what do you find it takes to pull it out of your head and possibility and into reality? A last minute mad dash? 😆
Times I wish it were easier to share my sewing machine and serger, for now they sit idle waiting for me to love them again. This year my costume is using more of my craft supplies instead of my sewing machine. I find the crafted style often take me a bit less time to complete.
Thank you for sharing more cute pets... now I'm wondering if I should make my cat some bat-wings... she loved her angel wings and cape so that sort of costume tends to make her happy.
Just for fun here is the goal/inspiration for my crochet witches hat adventures...

Yzma, from Emperor's new groove!!
@JuliaEWriter
Zombie costumes sound fun though a bit too on the gory/scary side for me, what was your favourite part about that costume?
I'm sure you find ways to have lots of spooktacular scary costumes, Yzma sounds like a fun one as well. So will your idea be coming to live tomorrow?
Thank you for joining in the fun!
