Hi there,

It seems like many of you really love animals, me too! I wondered if we could share what animals teach you in life?

For me, they teach me how to be more patient and be grateful for the simple things in life... walking outside, the fresh air and the way they greet you after you've been away for a short time is just so uplifting! This is probably what I love most about my dog. They really do teach us to see the joy in the little things and to be grateful for one another. I'd love to hear your reflections!

Cats often remind me the benefits of just lying in the sun and relaxing!

And how happy and content they are to be there :) It's so relaxing watching them just lay there peacefully!

@LisaMeighanMBPsS my parrot teaches me discretion and self control. I have to be careful what I say because they mimic what I say! lol

@amiablePeace77 I think you are right. My parrot has helped me increase my eye hand coordination. If I leave it in his cage too long he bites it! I think he is trying to tell me something:

"This is my cage, not yours. Stay out or I will bite you. There I guess told them!"

hahaha

@LisaMeighanMBPsS

Thank you for this post Lisa. I love the picture, those kittens are adorable! Cats and also dogs can teach us so much about how to wake up properly because they take their time for stretching. Animals show us that you don't need to be a kitten or puppy to play but you can play and have fun at any age. Even when my dogs had reached old age they always wanted to play and loved to cuddle.

Oooh, that's an interesting reflection Ami! I think it's so cute seeing them stretch and get prepared for the day.

@LisaMeighanMBPsS my dogs model what I think a fresh start should look like. They don’t hold grudges. They come into the room with the same optimism no matter what has happened.

This is beautiful and so true. I think we can learn so much from dogs and how they behave towards others. I also love how they have such unconditional love for the humans around them.

Animals tend to teach me what a joy it is to be alive here and now. They don't rush to do anything, but they're alert when they need to be.

They also teach me to have a sense of humor. Currently I'm working for a student who is studying prairie chickens and they are just so fun to observe! They are feisty, hardy birds with lots of personality.

@cafedaydreams yes I love animals. In US there is a show called Nature on PBS Public TV. There are many videos on youtube. Animals really teach us a lot.

@LisaMeighanMBPsS

they teach me im doing everything wrong and completely missing the simplistic meaning to life, prolonging existence. Humans love to over complicate life maybe that’s our problem.

@Perplexed1 I think humans have struggled a lot not over complicating life since we left our ways of living subsistently. That is the challenge I face right now to moderate technology with a simple life style.

Maybe instead of animals showing you what’s wrong they are showing you another path? I think so too! Humans do tend to overcomplicate issues and ruminate on problems without sometimes living in the moment.

That we are not accepting that we are also animals.

@SoulPitstop the animal nature is something we face every day with the need to eat, drink fluids, and sleep, it is difficult to ignore.

But we are also creative beings gifted with imagination.

Thanks for sharing and caring.

@soulsings It's not gifted. it's arrogance that most of them would never understand to learn the fundamentals to enjoy this nature as how it is, Anyway. But yeah. Ppl will keep modifying in the name of imagination. Yes. But it should not disturb other living beings. All the best.

@LisaMeighanMBPsS

I have a rescue Mom cat that delivered two rascal kittens. I've been observing them, and I realized that their family is way better than my own. The way they sleep together, cuddle, play, "hunt", and the way Mom cat spoil and let the kittens grow independence, etc. Human families can learn from animal families.

@listeningmatters I am glad you can witness the freedom of the animals to be natural with their offspring. Human life is not that simple because we have the complications of the human personality and all the traumas that arise from it.

I hope you find a way to reconcile with this challenge. I finally had to let go of expectations with my family and realizing they did the best they could. But sometimes I have thought, oh if it were different.

@soulsings

Thanks for your kind words. I agree with you on letting go of the expectation. I did that already. Still have issues with reconciliation though.
