The Gratitude Project: List 3 Things That You Are Grateful For...
by LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS
Last post
November 12th
...See more Hi there, Today we will learn a little more about gratitude and learn how to express this. Studies have shown that if you practice daily gratitude practice, it can make you feel happier and improve your health. What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one already has and not ones future desires or hopes. It is generated from within. This social emotion strengthens relationships, and its roots run deep in evolutionary history, and it stems from the survival value of helping others and being helped in return. Studies show that specific areas of the brain are involved in experiencing and expressing gratitude. Brain scans of people assigned a task that stimulates gratitude show lasting changes in the prefrontal cortex that heighten sensitivity to future experiences of gratitude, thus feeling happier and healthier. Please list 3 things that you are grateful for and share daily if you feel comfortable to do so!

To subscribe, so you can follow this thread and the therapist's answers, either post a question in this thread and/or hit the subscribe button in the upper right to get alerts when new posts are made to this thread. We welcome your questions, but what type of questions should I ask? We welcome any questions that are related to LGBTQIA+ and experiences and challenges. You may also want to ask questions about therapy and coping skills for particular challenges you face. Please avoid asking the therapist for specific advice like "should I date this guy after meeting him online?" You may ask the therapist for coping options with the particular mental health challenges you face and they can share suggestions that you may want to consider, but this is not an advice column. It is more like a place to learn about how online therapy at 7 Cups could help you deal with life and the many challenges it presents. If you have any customer service-related questions please email support@7cups.com as they cannot be answered in this thread. Finally, please avoid questions about medication as these are best suited to be answered by your physician, and anything not normally discussed in 7 Cups forums. I can't stop cleaning.

...See more I don't feel happy if I don't springclean one room per day (house with 10 rooms). I feel like I need to wash the ceiling and scrub the conners of each room because then it looks healthy and happy. But I love to paint, I want time to paint but I don't want to sit and paint in a imperfect home. Every day I think that I can get time to paint after cleaning today, but I don't stop cleaning, I go a little and I can't stop, and then I get to the end of the day and still feel like I've achieved nothing because I can't use my talent. How do I get myself somewhere where I can clean but be healthy about it?

...See more I just need to know if there's anyone who has any insight because I believe I have an unusual situation. I have anxiety that I may have been born with (because it's present in my earliest memories) along with erratic thoughts and behaviors that I can't link to anything that happened in my life. I have triggers and avoidant behaviors that have caused me to wreak havoc on relationships in my life. I believe that I have AvPD traits (I'm 16, so I couldn't be diagnosed anyways.)  I feel like obsessing over the idea that something happened to me when I was too young to remember has become a coping tactic for being born defective. At this point it is one or the other, because I've never met anybody else like me. I don't have a clue what to do.
How do I get over my fear of failure

...See more I recently took a big exam in school, and we have four big exams and a final at the end. The four exams are the only grades that count, and Ive never been a good test taker. I failed the first exam due to my own lack of preparedness and now Ive taken the third and I feel like I did poor on that one meaning I would have failed two exams which is the max you can fail and im worried my grade will be unable to recover. Im so scared of failing this class as its kind of the one-way ticket into my field. theres other programs I can get into but then I leave everyone in this class and im sure theyll speculate and now my graduation will be delayed as well. I'm so terrified of failing every little thing and I can't get over it. Does anyone have any advice of how to manage the feeling and get over the way I feel because I can't stop crying or freaking out over the fear of failing this class.

He said " well im glad she didnt because iwould be in jail rn" i just stood there . In shook. I hate him . They are both wo toxic together. He doesn't get how much trauma he has caused to me ? And he has the nerve to say "thank god she didnt "? I get flashbacks of that night. Thinking j shouldve called the police. I dont trust men now . ...See more In February of this year I lost my grandfather. I sat up in the hospital that week. I arrived back to the hospital 10 minutes after his passing but my sisters were able to be there with him. In March of this year I lost my boyfriend he had a heart attack at home in bed beside me and he did not make it. This month I held on to my mother as she took her final breath and passed from cancer. My best friend through it all was there for my partner's passing but suddenly disappeared for awhile and she just text me the other day from a different phone number and she sounds very paranoid and schizophrenic and I'm so worried about her. I just feel like losing all these people and now my best friend seems to be suffering with mental illness or something. My heart is aching and I just feel overwhelmed.

...See more hi there,, How to move on from a feeling? the scenario is the my wife before marriage when she was my fiance talked to a guy regarding what sex is and how to do it and some technicalities, she thought he was guiding her but yesterday out of mistake I came across that chat and I realized he wanted nothing but wrong stuff from her and due to my past experience of living in an infidel relationship I have hard time believing that she didn't know about his true intentions, I just don't want it to be what I think it is. I am trying my best to trust her as she hasn't given me a reason not to, but it's just that past thing is messing up big time. I don't want to be hurt nor I want to hurt her by telling her that I am having hard time with trusting 100%, what should I do? And no leaving is not an option so anyone saying that will be reported. This isn't worth leaving my soulmate </3

...See more I have a difficult situation of thinking critically and indenpendently.I can feel that my consciouness telling me what is right and wrong but I feel my mind just keeps deying and I can't keep myself to think it right .Even though it feel like the matter is wrong,I was like maybe it is right or wrong,I feel like I am living in the middle, even though I feel I should step in one side.I feel I couldn't decide and think like a normal person does now. I feel like I can't conclude the final decision of the thoughts of what is right or wrong. It has been a few months since I had anxiety problems and depression period.I even thought that do i need to think independently and why as I feel like I couldn't think the reason for that but I feel I need to think independently.I am worried why I am feeling this way and can you give some advices about my condition. Thank you very much.
Looking for advice on disorganisation and keeping schedules

...See more I’m writing this post because I missed the registration deadline for the international SATs by 4 days. It’s not the hugest deal in the world - there are still two months to register and take the test - but I can’t help but to feel so disappointed in myself. I still haven’t told my mum or reached out to my counsellor because I’m so ashamed of my disorganisation and complete inability to schedule a coherent summer. In fact, I haven’t talked to my counsellor for months, even though applications are coming up and he was supposed to give me a list of universities I should apply to in Europe and the US. I’ve probably missed online classes on maths and statistics but I can’t bring myself to open up my email and check, because then my failure would become a certainty. Every time I sit down to study or write my personal statement, I get overwhelmed by the things I haven’t done and how ‘I probably won’t get into the university I want, so why bother’. This isn’t new behaviour - I tend to do this all year round. I missed the final round of a competition because I messed up the date and time zones, I showed up late to my exams last year, and I keep missing piano classes even when I write down the date and time. I’ll create a schedule and calendar in a fit of productivity but then ignore it because it’s too stressful come time to actually enact any plans. I guess I just needed to vent a little and look for advice on my situation. I suspect I might have ADHD or anxiety, and it’s getting in the way of my life. I’ve asked my mum to help me get a therapist but she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry, and they’re all on holiday. I don’t know what to do. I think I’m ruining my life. What should I do?
