...See more Hi there, Today we will learn a little more about gratitude and learn how to express this. Studies have shown that if you practice daily gratitude practice, it can make you feel happier and improve your health. What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one already has and not ones future desires or hopes. It is generated from within. This social emotion strengthens relationships, and its roots run deep in evolutionary history, and it stems from the survival value of helping others and being helped in return. Studies show that specific areas of the brain are involved in experiencing and expressing gratitude. Brain scans of people assigned a task that stimulates gratitude show lasting changes in the prefrontal cortex that heighten sensitivity to future experiences of gratitude, thus feeling happier and healthier. ...See more Kindness provides many benefits to a human being. When I am kind to others, I just feel better inside, it’s like a warmth going through my whole body which opens my heart. It even puts a smile on my face.  When you’re kind to others your serotonin levels rise (the neurotransmitter responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being).  Research [https://text.npr.org/nx-s1-5233123] suggests that when we make acts of kindness a habit, it's also good for our health. Being nice to others can be one of the easiest and quickest, most inexpensive ways to keep anxiety at bay.  Kindness, however, does not mean always being there for others when they want you, which can lead to being taken for granted in the long run. ...See more When I was working it became normal for me to eat my meals within the shortest time. Usually it took me only a few minutes and it became a habit to have conversations about work whilst eating. I guess you can imagine that my digestion was not very good and that I hardly enjoyed the food even if it was consumed in a nice restaurant. My focus was sadly on my work. In the evening, at home, I did the same thing as at work - I ate very fast. Our health can be significantly impacted by the speed at which we consume.  Eating too quickly can result in a number of health problems. ...See more Many of us will have experienced the feeling that we know something is good for us yet our brain resists accepting it. Resistance is something we all face daily when attempting to do something important. We are hardwired to stay with what gives us comfort and because we practise staying comfortable most of the time we strengthen this default thinking. This is why the habit of delaying or avoiding important tasks (procrastination), even when we know it will harm us in the long run, is so common. Here are some ways that can help to get out of the loop of mental resistance: 1. Understand that resistance isn’t personal and affects everyone. It’s a natural part of our psychological processes, often arising when we encounter change or new ideas. 2. Body awareness. Physical sensations like muscle tensions, headaches or other symptoms of discomfort are often a sign of resistance. Be mindful of these changes in your body as they can provide valuable information about what’s happening internally. 3. Acceptance is powerful. Acknowledge that feeling uncomfortable with a new idea or situation is normal. Treat yourself particularly kindly during this time to move through the resistance with more ease.  Remember, progress often involves pushing through resistance. By practicing these steps, you’ll build resilience and find more ease in navigating life’s challenges.  Participation question How do you deal with things you find hard to accept?
