Birthday suggestions
Hi everyone.. this year I want to start a new tradition for my birthday, which I would like to follow on for the coming years too. I am not interested in social ideas or anything. I just want to do something for myself, or something I can do by myself..
Any ideas?

I love the idea of starting a new birthday tradition!
I think it depends on what you like. Some of my personally solo activities are spa days and movie nights with lots of take-out food!π
This is what i came here to suggest.
Iβm not sure if you enjoy solitude, but itβs something I enjoy from time to time. Iβm going through a divorce, and one thing Iβm starting as a tradition is to travel by myself.
A friend of mine introduced the idea of spending a few days by the lake. Iβm planning to do that this year. Whatever you decide, listen to your gut on what makes you happy. It is for you after all.
I do enjoy solitude. I had planning a staycation this year. But unfortunately I can't take it this month, I had some extra expenses, so I can't afford it. I hope I can take it next year. That's why I have to think about doing something else this birthday. I generally don't do anything for myself and I really want to change that.
How about something indulgent? Nothing expensive but something you like that you donβt have much like special chocolates, baking a decadent dessert, etc.
One thing I did for myself last year was I started getting my lashes done. I have to maintain them so itβs an ongoing thing, but starting it last year signifies something similar with yours. Doing something for myself.
@plumBeechwood7549 Personally, I would enjoy doing something nice for myself, like ordering delicious food. I would also want to go for a walk/hike in solitude, and enjoy the beauty around me.
What do you enjoy? What makes you feel happy? Maybe you would like to hangout on the couch with a giant bowl of your favorite snack and watch a favorite show or movie? Or scroll through old photos, like a highlight reel of years past?
A walk would be good.. I like doing things by myself, even watching movies. I would love to actually go and watch a movie alone on my birthday, but I never got the chance! Mostly I just want to escape people on my birthday, so I try to make up plans and avoid meeting them.. this year I am working so that's the perfect excuse, but I want to do something for myself.
@plumBeechwood7549 maybe you can go to the movies before or after work? Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy yourself!
I always like to do a hike on my birthday.

I dunno about you but I think a celebratory cat nap to reward dealing with people and life for another year is the bomb.
Also second the movie night with a massive amount of snacks, comfy pajamas and blanket and maybe a DIY face mask.
As someone who's been dealing with being alone on my birthday and holidays for a half decade now I would say whatever is meaningful for you matters, whether it's doing nothing or doing a lot of things.
Once I did a 'Japan Day' and went to the Japanese gardens, saw a koi fish for the first time, then went for sushi and bought myself a couple small Japanese themed items.
Buying yourself flowers and chocolates could also be nice, maybe a new outfit. Budget what you could afford...try a boutique or locally made items or have a treasure hunt at your favourite thrift store.
For RAOK vibes could do something for a charity or cause you believe in.
Maybe moving your furniture around and cleaning the crap out of your place is the best gift for yourself - that's what I did for New Years. Spent the last few years studying feng shui casually and then did a deep clean and declutter and positioned a lot of things elsewhere for more flow.
I think another year I got my nails and lashes done, and another I went to the beach, or had a bonfire and bought myself a cake.
Maybe you could try something new, or google ideas?
Or take a peek on YouTube, see what pops up.
Cultivate inspiration and you'll be sure to find it.
Just an update: My birthday celebration is still pending, but I decided that from this year I will visit the local bookstore every year on my birthday and buy a book.
There are some fantastic ideas here. And I'm going to try them, even if it's not for my birthday. They're fit for how I would love to spend my day off. Thank you everyone! πππβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
@plumBeechwood7549 hi I'm Lola I didn't have a normal life and I don't have a family. Till last year I'd never celebrated my birthdsy, I didn't realise people actually did.I'm 22 nd I've decided from now on I'm going to celebrate everything I can π so my advice is be a kid again. Buy and wrap yourself some cool presents. Like a train track or remote control car. Or teddy bear. Something fun. And also get yourself things you like just because you can. Then but yourself a big cake, and after a busy day of being a kid, put your feet up and relax with a new movie. A comedy. However you decide to celebrate have fun, you deserve it β€ π
Hi Lola! I'm glad you decided to celebrate your birthdays! I used to have huge birthdays as a child but with a lot of negativity and drama. And even with friends, it was not about what I want, but always about how they want it.. it became a trigger after so many horrible birthdays. So now I try to do things only for myself. I appreciate your suggestions too! They're pretty awesome!
I want to tell you that I'm a baker. So I always bake my own birthday cake which is really liberating! ππ You should try doing that too! It's really satisfying!
@plumBeechwood7549 I wish I could but I'm missing some fingers on each hand, so I can't safely use the oven. I'm sorry about your birthdays in the past π₯ but just have fun your way, just for you β€β€β€ oh and I got you a birthday present πππa rainbow balloon πhope you like it
