Bio
Hello everyone! My name is Tracy Turner, and am very thankful to be a part of the team here with 7 Cups of Tea. I’m a trained active listener and like to support people struggling with a wide range of emotional or psychological challenges, but am specifically interested in helping those who have experienced a trauma in their life. Often times, or as it was in the military, living life after a trauma usually coincides with drug or alcohol use, therefore I have knowledge in that area as well. I have helped those with bouts of depression and anxiety, in which they have learn to successfully manage independently. I recently got out of the Army in order to focus solely on my education after ten years of service. Although I miss being in the military, I know that I will be able to contribute more effectively as a civilian than I ever could as a human resource clerk. I’ve always been passionate about psychology, and after serving in the military that passion grew even stronger.
I am very passionate about helping other people. I have been to war, I have bared witness to those who have and are still suffering as a result of the war, and I feel as though it is my duty to serve those who so selflessly serve us everyday. Although I am passionate about providing treatment for our service men and women suffering, I would also like to extend my services to anyone who is suffering, and just needs someone to talk to. There is hope, and there is a light that if not able to be seen can be relit, with time and effort. I am here to help you find that light again.
Currently I am seeking my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology, and plan to complete my degree at the end of this year (2015). In addition to working on my masters, I also plan to complete certifications in Certificate in Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency (CPACD), Certificate in Addiction studies (CPAS), and Expressive Therapies Studies. In any case the areas of interest that I have studied, and have experience with but am not yet certified, are the very areas I feel competent enough to help others suffering from PTSD, or a trauma related incident, TBI or other injuries, anxiety, depression, and substance use.
Even though I served as a human resource clerk in the military, I was still able to gain experience that directly relates to psychology during my time in service. I was able to successfully fill the positions of the sexual assault victim intervention counselor and the alcohol and drug prevention administrator during my last 4 years of service. These roles played a huge role in determining my career path as a clinical psychology, and contributed inadvertently with experienced gained.
I am currently an Applied Behavioral Analysis Level II Therapist, in which is a recent career change for me. So far I love the position, and feel privileged to be able to help others with cognitive or behavioral challenges. I am originally from Piqua, Ohio, but have lived all over the world, and currently reside in Southern California. I enjoy traveling, and like to go to the beach on occasion to relax.
