It could be multiple reasons; you don't have enough self-confidence to deal with every day problems, you don't have enough enthusiasm to go that extra mile, you don't have the skills or confidence required to deal with troublesome customers or maybe, you're meant for something more than simply working in retail. When negative things happen or when you notice yourself having second thoughts about doing something in your job, take note of those and you'll eventually come to a conclusion.

Everyone is different. Not everyone is a people person. It could take some time, or practice to help others and to deal with individual personalities. The more you work at it, the easier it may become for you. If you feel that its still not working after giving it a good try, then maybe its not for you.

Perhaps this isn't a skill meant for you? You need to find something that you're not only skilled at, but passionate about. Maybe you're good at research, teaching, designing, presenting etc. Search around for other areas of work

It's not easy because you have to learn and put yourself in their shoes, ask yourself how would you feel? would this upset you?, remember do not give advise as this may make things worse or cause harm. Always try to summarise what they have messaged you.

Because , some where at some point something is bothering you , it could be like when you are at work you still think that you are dealing to the customers with personal or emotional feelings , you need to keep them a side , and always carry a smile when the customers enter in your xyz organization , using an appropriate greeting to make your customer feel welcome sometimes can be they key for good customer service ,
Remember , customers nearly always have a choice of which businesses and organizations they use , they didn't have to pick yours and they don't have to pick yours in the future.

The main thing in customer service is to smile, be polite and know where products are at. As long as you can do that, i believe you are already good at customer service.

Working in customer service is not easy! It can also be quite overwhelming since there is a lot that you need to do. See if you can give yourself some time to get the hang of things. As someone who worked in customer service I can tell you that it really is a skill.
One of the things that you might find helpful is asking for help, see if you can find people nearby who seem to be doing okay and learn from them. That could be as simple as the way that you take notes from phone calls. It might not sound like much but every little bit counts in helping things flow a little bit more smoothly.

Customer service is hard. It requires one to be adaptable to many different personalities and moods at a moments notice. It comes down to patience and ultimately, practice. The key word here being practice and the more situations you have been placed in, the more prepared you are to take on these scenarios, or similar scenarios, that you are thrown into with little to no warning. Rome was not built in a day and neither can a persons knowledge base so be patient and the experience will come with practice. Good luck and work hard towards your goal, with due diligence you will get there!
