The best way to stop a chat is to set expectations at the beginning of one. "What would you like to get out of our time today?" is a good example. By defining what your Member wants from you when they connect and sticking to that definition, you can keep chats down to an orderly amount of time

If you're just saying goodbye for the day/night you can tell them, I'm here anytime you need to talk to someone about anything. Have a nice night. If they want to end the chat for some reason you can say sorry I couldn't be of more help to you would you like for me to refer you to someone else who may be of more help to you? Or you can click browse listeners at the top and/or bottom of the page. Good luck and thanks for choosing 7 cups of tea.

You can kindly end it and say something you would say to a close friend or even a stranger. Tell them that you hope they have a nice day and that their situation improves, that they're welcome to contact you or someone else in future and then go.
If you mean, how you literally stop it, then you can press the power button in the top right and it'll end it. If you press the x on chats in the conversation list, they'll be hidden until you get a response.

Great question! The 'best' way is up to you. You get to define your own boundaries, and one of those boundaries is when and how the chat ends. There is a little 'X' button on the chat window that will end the chat and allow you to leave an anonymous review, it also notifies the listener that the chat has ended. It's ok to say 'I'm going to go head off' or 'I need to go' or 'Can you end the chat for me?' or 'I'm going to try something else', or any other nonoffensive thing you thnk of. It's ok to ask the listener if you can message them later. It's ok to let the listener know at the beginning of the chat that you only have x minutes available, or that you might have to leave in the middle of the chat. It's ok to ask the listener to give you a few minutes notice if they have to leave. It's also ok if you want to end the chat and don't know how, and just stop talking and go offline. There are many options, and whichever one you think is best for you in the given chat is the best one for you! There's no need to apologize or feel awkward or badly about ending a chat. Good listeners will understand and will welcome you back when you're ready or have need! Good luck!

That would be the power button, in the lower right corner under the chat screen and the send button.

I think that the best way to stop a chat would be to offer assistance for whomever you are talking to and let them know that someone else would better be of assistance to them.

Show how compassionate you feel towards the chat and your intend to keep the flow going but have limited time :) , because you can't do it now doesn't mean you can't tomorrow :) , as long as they receive the intended message i should work :)

The best way is to simply be HONEST to the user in regards to why you want or need to stop or end the chat. Say, something unexpected comes up in my schedule (We are all humans after all!) and I have to end the chat abruptly, I would explain this briefly to the user and refer her to another listener.
