I know how tough it is. That's exactly how it was when I joined my current job. At first I didn't talk to anybody so I just went about my day and worked as hard as I could. I made sure I got my job done and my coworkers began to notice that. I work in a fast food place though, so you have to really work with others to get the job done fast and with good quality. When they saw I wasn't there to slow them down, they opened up to me and in turn I opened up more to them. It may help just to prove you're good at your job and you're taking it seriously, your coworkers might appreciate that and want to interact with you more.

It's never fitting in honestly. However I do know one good idea I've heard. Mimic their behaviors, not exactly, but physically act more like them. If you see people doing similar things, copy it. This will unconsciously make them see you are one of them.

Try to keep à low profile. Listen to get feel of job. Ask to shadow someone for day, until you get your bearings. Watch how others do things, pick out best bits discard the bad, do not go in arrogantly, this rubs people up the wrong way/bad feeling. Be willing to learn, pitch in, offer to make drinks, pitch in, work get hands dirty.

Its never easy to feel like the "odd-man" out. Perhaps introducing yourself, trying to listen and start up a conversation with them, or having something like a get-together and inviting them can help draw you closer in getting to know them better and into them getting to know you.

These sorts of things take time. It would be hard to begin with and sometimes you may feel like you want to give up. However you need to, as much as you're comfortable with, start to make yourself known in your workplace. Ask a few people if they'd like to have lunch with you or chat about upcoming events. There always needs to be a start

If a company picks you to work for them it means that they want what you can offer to them. Being different and standing out is not a bad thing. Just be confident in what you can offer and do your best.

Coming in to an established team at work can be really tough! You can try to find one person, maybe an officemate or someone you are working on a project with, to help you get in to the group. After work events, like happy hour, can be great for meeting people too! It can be awkward and seem like you are a third wheel, but it will get better with time as you become closer with your team.
