Ideally, resources say an adult needs at least 7-9 hours of sleep daily. Now, it also depends on the person, their health, medical history, and overall lifestyle when it comes to deciding their sleep window. There are monks in monasteries sleeping for 5 hours daily and still maintaining amazing health while there are college students suffering from a range of issues due to over-sleeping. I suggest you observe your own sleep pattern and decide how much sleep lets you be productive throughout the day. There are no hard and fast rules as to how much sleep an average adult needs. As long as we are having a beauty sleep of a minimum of 5 hours, I think we are good to go!

How much sleep one needs different from person to person. An average teenager needs eight to ten hours of sleep every night while an average adult needs about seven to eight/nine hours of sleep. Six hours of sleep per night may be enough for some. Woman in pregnancy tend to require more sleep than other adults.

Well, I think we have all heard that 8 hours of sleep is ideal. However, I don't think that it is necessary for everyone to get that amount of sleep every night. I don't think that it is practical, considering that everyone's lifestyle is different, and some people might not have 8 consecutive hours in the day to spare. I know, personally, I have gotten 4-6 hours of sleep and I woke up feeling just fine for the day ahead. I think it truly depends on you personally. Whatever amount of sleep that revives you is unique to you. Remember, that naps can be your best friend!

6 to 10 hours, aiming for 7 to 8. There a scientific studies that show your brain needs a minimum of 6 hours per day to function better, improve critical thinking skills, physical coordination and keeping your mental faculties more stable. You should really be aiming for 7 to 8, but realistically that might sometimes be hard to get when you’re leading a busy life, so a general rule to follow might be to get always get at least some sleep daily, whether it be 6 hours or 2, people tend to function much better after getting some sleep.

Depending on your age, you might need more or less sleep than you think! Adolescents and early adults usually require 8-9 hours of sleep daily because most of your physiological growth occurs in your sleep. Think about it: you are growing both physically and mentally as a young person; your brain needs time to develop. More sleep offers the greatest opportunity for your development! However, once you reach adulthood, on average you can sleep 7-8 hours daily. Ever wonder why your parents were able to stay up so late? This can be why! Sleep is very important and surprisingly impacts you significantly when you're awake!

From my experience and research, you should get a minimum of one sleep cycle per day. A sleep cycle is 90 minutes. The average person really needs 5 to 6 sleep cycles to thrive, but you can survive on 1. 1 sleep cycle can leave you feeling much more tired than 5 to 6, but you can survive on that little sleep. On a permanent basis though, as opposed to a weekly or monthly occasion, I would recommend at least 3 sleep cycles for the best possible results. Once a week I need to wake up extremely early, so i will get as little as 2 hours and as much as 5 hours of sleep. However, I normally compensate for that with a longer sleep the following night.

It is psychologically recommended that you get at least 8 hours daily. I can get a mostly okay day out of 7 hours but everyone is different. I'd recommend 8 hours because if you're in school you already know you'll get less depending on your schedule, whether you're a morning or night person, etc. :) Make sure you turn off your phone 30 minutes before bed as well, and sleep in a good environment (dark, not too hot or cold, and maybe take a shower too to feel clean while you sleep). This way, you'll feel refreshed come morning and your overall mental health will also be better because your body is getting the rest it needs!

You should get as much sleep as you need daily. I suffer from sleeping disorders that will never allow me to get enough sleep i need DAILY but some lucky days. I do get enough sleep. This is a very personal topic to me and I highly value having good sleep hygine. I think there is a lot of scientific data out there that may say "you need this much sleep for your age to feel good" Everyone is different though, if you figure out a proper scheudle then you may need more sleep or less sleep. I would say if are an adult between 21-49 and you aren't getting at least 6 hours witch is very very low, then you aren't getting enough. Some people can function on that or less though and be fine.

Everyone is different in what helps them feel rested and refreshed. Some people sleep less and some a bit more. 6-9 hours seems to be the normal suggested sleeping time. The quality of your sleep heavily impacts the value. So the range is different due to that as well. Good sleep hygiene- where you prepare for bed by unwinding first so that you can promote solid, restful sleep. That could mean clearing your mind by writing or meditation for example, personal care and hygiene like brushing teeth of course, some people reduce screen time and electronics for 30 minutes to an hour before they sleep as well to reduce stimulation of our minds to be alert. A consistent schedule of when bedtime is arguably what would help keep a consistent habit of healthy sleep hygiene.

People’s needs for sleep may vary. Generally 7-10 hours of sleep would be enough for adults. Sleep less than 6 hours is a bit insufficient and may cause certain physical harms in the long run. In addition, quality of the sleep is also very important. Sleep serves to help people recover and relax. This function may be limited if there are frequent dreams ongoing. To improve the quality of sleep, certain calming activities before sleep might be helpful, such as yoga breathing, listening to quite music, and taking a warm bath. Furthermore, if possible, taking a nap at noon is also encouraged. A short nap of 15-20 minutes is very helpful toward refreshing minds.
